So I tt to december trying to get the ornament diys. Usually I dont have a problem getting diys from balloons at night. Not having luck this time. It also is repeatedly a yellow balloon which I find odd. How difficult was it for you guys when getting the ornament diys and did you have better luck during a certain time of the day? Thanks

At least for me, the festive DIYs have been real hard to get, and after Christmas there was no point anymore so I gave up. They feel rarer than others that came from balloons as well and I've seen other people complain about it here, but I don't know if that's actually true
It varies. I think it all comes down to your RNG. Save and quit the game, then reload in hopes of getting better RNG. I believe after the 10th balloon, chances of getting gold and ore are increased the reason you're getting yellow balloons more often.

Me lol, I got like 3 or 4 only and gave up when Toy Day passed because there was no point of me looking for the christmassy stuff when it passed. I found it insanely rare to get any of them.
Actually farming them sucks, it's better when you can just get them as you are doing other things. If you are farming than it helps if you can just run to the beach at the 4 and 9 min mark and find other things to do in between. Remember also that the ornament diys aren't available til the 15th so if you are before that you won't find those.

It was impossible for me, I finally gave up and just got the DIYs from this forum. I get they didn't want to make things too easy, but I feel they make things extra difficult. I just save my TBT and buy what I need if I can't get it on my own. I don't have 20 hours a day to spend on a game trying to play the balloon lottery.

I find that I generally have better luck with balloons during the day. They can be tough to spot at night, especially since I rarely play with the sound on. I've had times, day or night, where there would be huge gaps between balloons and I couldn't find any at all. It got to the point where in December I was running around for hours each day trying to catch the balloons as they came in but still walked away missing many of the DIYs. I found the ornament DIYs were especially hard this time around!
I feel like the fall and winter seasonal balloons were a lot harder to get then their spring/summer counterparts. I started having trouble around the mushroom diy and it just piled up after that. So I eventually just gave up and went to trading. I didn't want to wait until next year to start decorating for the holiday when I was playing the game when the holiday was actually happening. Nintendo shouldn't expect anyone to have to do that.
I had and easier time with the night time balloon hunting, but that was because my left side of the beach had a river that cut in between and the right side was a straight path. Even though I used the :04-:09 balloon trick I still kept getting bells, materials, and clothes/furniture that I didn't need. I probably got one or two diy that I needed with all the hours I wasted. So I eventually just went to the trading section.

Thanks for your guy's input. I will probably seek out trading TBT for seasonal/holiday diys then. Generally I get 1-2 balloons every 30 min unless I do the 4 or 9 mark thing with going into a building to talk to someone.
I was able to get all the maple autumn and mush diys during their times but that was on my old island. Since you guys have mentioned that diys have been getting harder to find through balloons since then, I don't know if it is the ornament ones are just hard or if there was some sort of update or change done in the game that makes it harder. I have noticed during the autumn, there were long periods of time where there were no balloons during the day and I was pretty sure I wasn't missing them. I guess I could have. I had better luck at night.

I have easily gotten every group of seasonal DIYs except for the winter ones. I came across only a few "naturally" and resorted to farming to get the rest. I've never had to farm balloons before, and was very unsuccessful so I resorted to buying them for tbt online.

Try the feng shui? I was having trouble with this, but not so much now. Supposedly, the green feng shui placement of furniture brings better luck in balloon diys. I put a ton of green furniture and wall decorations on the wall and it seems to have helped.
I didn't think of that! I may give that a try and see how that goes in another season I am missing.
