Backstories to villagers

Ok surely I can?t be the only person who gives my villagers backstories to create more depth for them?

For example my character and Bruce both run an illegal casino, Butch is apart of band and prefers to isolate himself from others after the loss of his band member in an accident, Mitzi grew up in wealthy house but found herself never getting anything exciting in her life so she abruptly left home and finds that excitement in books, etc.

There is so much ?story? behind every little thing in my town and expanding on it keeps me engaged and motivated to keep playing, do other people do this? What little stories have others made?

[Mayor Monday]

Yes! Thank God I'm not by myself, hehe. Though not too in-depth, I love giving my villagers personalities/backstories, too. Sometimes I do it without thinking, especially when the said villager has been in my town for a long time. And by the way- those are some interesting concepts for your villagers!

I like to think of one of my favorite neighbors, Eunice, to be a lonely old lady who has no surviving family. My character takes care of her since Eunice feels strange being the oldest woman in town.

Rudy is a reckless young man who's rather arrogant and loud. He dropped out of college to pursue a carefree lifestyle. His middle-aged neighbor, Gaston, is set in his traditional Frenchman ways- but Rudy's always trying to get him to lighten up.

Astrid was in one of my past towns. I saw her as a struggling divorc? who was stuck taking care of her child alone, and the reason she was so bitter to everyone was that she constantly felt guilty of being a bad mother.

These aren't all of them, but some of the more prominent that I remember. It's such a fun thing to do.

Astrid
Astrid is a wonderful mother to her beloved joey, but she is more than happy to share her motherly love with anyone else in need! She truly cares about her closest friends...if there is one thing Astrid DOESN'T take for granted, it's the ones who matter most!

Walt
Although he looks tough and beaten up, Walt is a huge softie with a heart of pure gold. Walt really wants to be a father one day. As if he wasn't beaten up enough, he would break every bone in his body for his dearest friends!

Rooney
Rooney has been into boxing since he was a growing joey in pre school. Thankfully, the district he went to offered boxing as an extra curricular activity. He started off going to little ledge boxing in pre school, and his dreams of becoming a professional boxer only intensified from there.
Once he got into high school, he started going to into major ledge boxing. From the time he started pre school to the time he graduating from high school, he NEVER lost a match.
He was recently given a million-dollar contract to become a championship boxer. He gladly accepted this offer. He is usually busy practicing and preparing to become superior to other professional boxers, which is why he is always wearing his boxing attire when you see him.

Rolf
Millions of years ago, the four elemental aspects of Earth banded together to stir together a disaster that's big enough to seal the ugly and evil of Rolf in the center of the earth, but in 2001, the behemoth has risen to the surface and currently reeks havoc on the innocent villagers of Animal Crossing. Just one look at this abomination is said to instantly make you want to pour 100 gallons of lemon juice on your eyes.

Mathilda
Like her best friend Astrid, Mathilda is also a mother. She is also very caring and motherly like Astrid, but she wasn't always the good kangaroo she is today. She was notorious for putting others down in 2001, but she get older and mature, she realized how badly it was hurting people. So she spent the next 10 years trying to change her ways and be nice. Now she is one of the most motherly villagers in Animal Crossing and had grown to love her town and neighbors. Still, people find it hard to see past her rough exterior.

Canberra
No one knows how or even why, but one horrible day, a new species of koala began to over populate the Earth. Ever since this so-called "innocent" koala named Canberra set foot on this fragile planet, she has been doing nothing but cloning clones of herself (who also makes clones of their selves) to multiply these ungodly koalas we like to call abominations. When they are not doing their cloning, they are reeking havoc all across the world. Should you ever see one of these disgusting things, destroy it ASAP to ensure the populate rate at less slows down a little bit.

Velma (the story is more accurate to the GC version)
Being a nerd, Velma was bullied throughout her school career. Everyone though she was the ugliest thing they have ever seen. The reason why Velma is so rude, snooty and vulnerable to other people is because of her schoollife. Perhaps she just needs someone to give her a chance? Deep down, she is very smart and sweet, but she never has the chance to reveal her true self.

Omg these are amazing, I might have to start doing that with my villagers... The only similar "story idea" that I've come up with was for Julian. When he moved in, Stitches moved in shortly after and IMMEDIATELY they were best buds and everyone in town would tell me about it. So I liked to imagine that Julian and stitches were a thing, and it was really cute because sometimes they would run up to me excitedly and talk about one another. But then one day the two of them were talking and Julian got really upset over the conversation. I didn't really think much of it until the two started making up rumors about one another, they stopped wearing the clothes they gave each other, gifted furniture was put up for sale at the retail. It all started spiraling until one day stitches just left. Sent me a goodbye letter and that was it. Overall, a nasty breakup between the two, but I guess it worked out since I was left with Julian.

 

[Bunia]

I pretend that Ruby is a precious Moon Rabbit from ancient japanese legends who fled to earth (story similar to Reisen from Touhou) and my whole village is stylised on bamboo forest full of old animal youkai ladies (Violet, Ursala, Rhonda, Claudia, Celia, Amelia, Willow, Baabara). My mayor is an elegant moon princess who adores and protects Ruby.

I only have a backstory for Mitzi. She's been my favorite since Wild World. I imagined her living a lonely life before we met. Her boyfriend broke up with her. Leaving her with just a few pieces of furniture and nowhere to go. She needed a fresh start and moved to an unfamiliar town. A month or so went by and one morning, she heard news that the mayor was coming to maintain permanent residence within her town. So she stood outside the train station with excitement waiting to see who this mayor was. It was me of course! We then became best friends and have been for years.
