Back of Residental Service Area

I also have two south exits! I'm having hard time with the rivers. Can I see a picture of your map? I'm curious about the shape of your river
Yeah of course! At first I hated the two south exits and tried to close one exit off and make it look like I had a west exit, but I ended up having more space than I knew what to do with. So I decided to terraform everything back to the way it was. I have an easier time decorating small spaces than large spaces anyways lol

We almost have the same map! My airport, residental services, and secret beach is in the same spot as yours. I'm going to have to steal your idea of putting the museum off to the side. I want it to have it own special area.

Behind my Resident Services is a straight path that leads to the Museum on the right side, and Nook's Cranny on the left path. The view is partially obstructed if you don't tilt your camera the right way, but you see enough of it for my liking. :)

That looks so good! Is it just for aesthetics or is there a way to get up to those cliffs?

It's just for aesthetics! There's nothing really useful up there and we have to be so careful with our limited inclines (boo!) that I couldn't justify it!

Go for it! The museum was the last building I moved--to be honest I had no idea where to put it so it ended up being placed on the left side which made the most sense to me since my left sided river separated an empty piece of land from my shopping district (which is where Nook's and Able's are). I don't have a super fancy museum entrance, but I did end up placing it on a cliff and making a "museum restaurant" below it! :D

These are old photos, my layout has changed quite a bit since these were taken. Bassically I put a river behind Resident Services, with two red zen bridges on the sides. A little zen garden island inbetween the bridges directly behind Resident Services. The left side has a rock garden, and the right side leads to my mushroom area.

I never thought about putting a fountain back there! It looks really nice! Good use of the built in lamp posts on the plaza.

My town is still at work, but this how the back looks so far.

This little 'building' is suppose to be a flower shop.
We need a cash register in this game!

There's a river behind that stone wall in the back.

I love these Japan inspired towns! Do you have the code for the panels on the right in your last picture?

I thought about putting two bridges to balance it out. I like the garden idea, I might turn it in to a zen rock garden farm.

that's exactly what i did there. cliff & waterfall. but because the plaza has a more "town-ish" vibe, more similar to new leaf, i didn't opt for the natural looking waterfall. while other parts of my island are more natural, it has a more town vibe in terms of how i put the waterfalls. basically, behind it is an elevated area of where my shops are so it's like a marketplace area.

Heres what i did. Made cliffs with a small digsite! This was the first thing I terraformed on my island, as I was determined of having a cliff behind my Resident Service. Hope it helps ^^

The right side

The left side. The second incline leads up to my museum, and right behind the bulletin board is the entrance to the digsite.

Digiste! Thanks internet for the inspiration ♡

i am saving this thread, y'all have some great ideas! i have some seasonal bushes planted behind the resident services. that's about it lol. maybe i'll add some trees after this thread.

This is what I did with mine!

The right side has no waterfalls or anything but instead there is a space between the plaza and the cliff where I put a bench, a log stool, and some other bushes. The second and third layer have pine trees and bushes lining all the way around. I think it looks very nice because there are waterfalls, but they're not super over the top if that makes sense! Of course there is also nothing wrong with lots of waterfalls too if that's your thing!
I hope this helps. c:View attachment 272229
OMG, this looks so beautiful! 😊👍 I think I'm gonna use this as inspiration, if you don't mind. (Also, SKYE LOOKS SO CUTE!!!!!)

at the moment I have bushes and some trees, then behind that is a little residential area. I really want to put cliffs behind it - and the pictures in this thread are really pushing that dream forward! - but since half my villagers live behind RS I'd have to move all their houses... it's a struggle

My river runs behind mine, so there isn't a ton of room. I planted a few trees and placed hedges between them, creating a shortcut to the museum. On the river side of the hedge, there's just enough room to access the river. Or for my villagers to block it by sitting under a tree.
