Back of Residental Service Area

nvm

Sorry I read your post wrong lmao.

I literally just planted a row of cherry trees (my native fruit) behind it lol, as a sort of homage to my island’s flora :) It was a simple touch, but it adds some nice colour as you run by.

On other islands I’ve seen raised cliffs, but there have been surprisingly far and few between...

What do people do with the back of the residental service area? I was thinking about raising cliffs behind it and maybe add some waterfalls but I'm not sure. I need some inspiration
This seems to be the solution for a lot of people for a lot of areas. I don’t suggest just adding waterfalls. Give it some time and I’m sure you’ll think of something creative. You don’t have to do anything with it right away. However, you could always put a waterfall there to see if you really do like it and if you do, then keep it. If not, tear it down.

This is what I did with mine!

The right side has no waterfalls or anything but instead there is a space between the plaza and the cliff where I put a bench, a log stool, and some other bushes. The second and third layer have pine trees and bushes lining all the way around. I think it looks very nice because there are waterfalls, but they're not super over the top if that makes sense! Of course there is also nothing wrong with lots of waterfalls too if that's your thing!
I hope this helps. c:

This is done well. Great job!

I raised the cliff behind mine and put a couple houses and a stargazing area! it's far from perfect but it worked well for my island!

I fenced the back of mine for now, but there's only about four tiles between it and the river so I don't have a whole lot of room. Thought about just doing one row of cliffs and planting purple hyacinths all along them. (They look like lilacs and my town is Lilac Bay)

I built a little cliff area behind mine because it just backs onto a river. There’s always one villager who decides that the tiny space between the RS and the cliff is their new favourite spot 😆

That looks so good! Is it just for aesthetics or is there a way to get up to those cliffs?

I was planning on make a star gazing area too! The problem is that I would like the star gazing area to be near the museum so I think putting it near the residental services would make it too crowded.

I put a row of trees behind mine or you could put windmills behind it. The cliff with waterfalls sounds good though.

urgh seeing what other people have done with their island is making me think mine sucks
Design is subjective. If you like what you've done, then that's all that matters!

With that said, here's what's behind mine:

But now that I think about it, the chess board might look better in front of RS.

I'm planning to put cliffs behind mine, but no waterfalls. I'm trying to figure out a good ratio of cliff to regular land because I love fishing and don't want a tiny river for normal river fish. It is proving to be challenging. I'm once again flattening my land and trying again.

I have an iron garden table and chair with coffee, and each side there's a regular garden bench.

Ok I just have Nooks and Able's right behind mine but now I want to move them and be heckin stylish like you, good grief!!

I did a stepping stone path with some trees since my river runs horizontally across the island and merges towards 2 south exits c:

I also have two south exits! I'm having hard time with the rivers. Can I see a picture of your map? I'm curious about the shape of your river

That's super creative! Is that your house or a villager house on that hill behind it?
