It's funny how gaming burnout is a thing. At first I thought it was just AC related and it was caused by the lack of things to do in the game, lack of updates... But it wasn't: I saw myself basically unable to enjoy games in the last few months. Although I tried playing many different types of games, aside from Street Fighter 3 (which is the game I play when I need to alleviate my stress) I couldn't play anything for more than 20 minutes.

Then, the other day, my nephew asked if we could play AC again because he missed visiting Bill and Marina and he wanted to catch underwater critters for the first time. I said "sure, let's visit our friends" and since then, I'm hooked again.

Been trying to finish some areas that I wasn't really satisfied with he way they looked, and finally started to work on the north section of the island. Still haven't visited other people's dreams but I've uploaded my island to the dream world (address is DA-9056-8665-9246 if anyone wants to visit).

Glad to see you're back enjoy the game again Raz! AC is one of the perfect games for burnout as if you set it down for a while, you may get more ideas for your own island, or just miss visiting your villager, or even to experience a new update. I'll definitely check out your DA soon btw :)

Also, I'm guessing it's 3rd Strike you play. I'm an Akuma main / Hugo secondary. :) My main fighting games would be Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Smash Bros. Melee though.

Gaming burnout is definitely a thing. I've been gaming for over 30 years and I got burnt out for a decent chunk of the PS2-era of gaming. Just stop playing and focus on other things for a while. It makes things feel fresh again.

I just recently got back into anime after being mostly burnt out on it the past 5+ years. Too much mediocre cute girls doing cute things and isekai shows, and ESPECIALLY too much school anime. I'm approaching middle age. I don't care about high school shenanigans as much. Too much anime focuses on that and it feels like the equivalent of reading the same sorts of books over and over.

Yeah, 3rd Strike! I'm a Makoto main (Ryu secondary). I used to play most 2d fighters, especially the SNK games, but nowadays I just play 3S and KoF 98/2002.

Oh, I can definitely relate lol. Been playing since the NES, went through the arcade days and even made the mistake of researching studying about the industry's history and used to be an editor and writer/reviewer for a gaming website. That rapidly made me approach games in a different way and I'm practically unable to play any games without analyzing them critically... which means having fun becomes harder, even though I admittedly enjoy some broken games lol.
