Im now getting a Amiibo Card reader.

This honestly sounds super cool and I hope they add some more updates too!

3 years and they decide to actually update this... Imo, this update came out waaay too late. And while it seems cool and all, I feel like Nintendo should've just waited to give us a new game instead of updating a game that's 3 years old. But I guess it's kinda nice that they remembered us non-Japanese players this time around for new updates and DLC.

I'm quite excited about the update in general, even without the amibo card functionality. Never thought they would update so late, after all this time....
Especially since I can no longer get presents from the post office. Assumed NL was probably on its way out like what they did with WW, shutting off online capabilities and what not.
Still wondering about what the amibo cards will actually do though. The same as HHD? Or will a particular villager give you particular items/furniture once scanned? Really looking forward to it either way. Guessing the release will coincide with the animal crossing phone game

Yeah, I thought the same about the post office present service discontinuation suggesting the game was a little on the dead side. Wild World lost its online capabilities at the same time as nearly every other Nintendo DS and Wii game though. I think it was due to some contract expiring but can't be bothered Googling it. Whatever the reason was, it ended too soon, especially as Pok?mon Black & White 2 hadn't been out for all that long.

I really can't wait for for it. It'll be nice to have Wisp back and I hope we get some new items. I think this is their way of being like "sorry were working on the app so you won't get a new game for a while, keep playing the old one!" It'll be nice being able to move in who I want even though I'm like 2 away from having everyone where I want them in my current town. But my next town will be a breeze. XD

guys, they are literally adding the function to now add characters into your town from certain amiibo cards, and might be adding some splatoon furniture themed items I believe, nothing more, its nothing to be excited over.

Plus there are new characters based from splatoon.

There's reasons to be excited. We never had this type of update.

Players will pay bells to weed your town for the badge and furniture. The host and visitor will get a weeding prize if Leif is outside.
Open your gates and than wake up Leif. Let the person pull all the weeds and you'll get prizes.

I just want the Blue Argyle Tank that Nintendo failed to release. Also it would be nice if they put all the DLC that we got into our catalog so we can order more or release them again. I was watching a stream the other day and they all want the Afternoon Tea Set.

I hoping for new items SO MUCH! That's all I want. Pleaaaase Nintendo :'( Nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo about the new items, so I hope they make new announcements about this update soon. And a trailer would be amazing. We also don't know yet what's the point of using the special character amiibo (from Amiibo Festival)... So much suspense!

Edit: We don't know neither what's the link between this update and the mobile game... If the mobile game adds new stuff to New Leaf, I'll DIE.

Is it a confirmed way to get the villagers you want? That would be so amazing! I echo the sentiment of a lot of other posters, adding in the furniture catalog from HHD would be wonderful!!!

My biggest hope is that, if they are introducing new villagers after New Leaf has been out for so long already, that maybe they will be kind enough as to let us have a couple extra villager slots? If so, I would assume it wouldn't be many, as the villagers need to actually fit into the town, but I'm already really struggling to figure out how to fit my three top dreamies into Drowsy right now without kicking any super favourite villagers out, and it'd be nice if I could have some extra room for a duck.

If we do get any additional returning villagers, they'll probably be ones that were exclusive to HHD and the ones that were cut from HHD but found in the data.

This includes: Carrie, Claude, Louie, Filly, Maddie, Felyne, Boots, Weber, Kamaboko (rumored to be PJ), Billy, Ursala, Murphy, Vanessa, Monpe, Rex, Hornsby, Spike, Buzz, Sprocket, Sandy, Stella, Huck, Paolo, Piper and Tybalt

While these characters have no amiibo cards, I can still see them being added as regular villagers that could move in or be at the campsite.
