Autumn Update! Speculation?

I was so not expecting there to be an update for a game that's been out since 2011, especially with the post office gift thing being discontinued and all.

Support for amiibo cards or whatever is being added, but I'm really hoping there will be something else to the update too, that doesn't involve real-life purchases. It's still open for speculation though, so does anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: It does look like there may be some promotional content that surely won't require amiibo cards or figures, looking at some of the images...

NL is out since 2012 in Japan and 2013 everywhere else.

I really want them to add the new furnitures from HHD in NL. With luck, maybe they'll even add carpets/ceiling furniture and more? Who knows...

I get a feeling that the new AC phone app might also have some sort of involvement in this update. It's out there and I'm going to say it will happen, but they're both new big things for the franchise and they're going to be released in fall.

Also, I also do feel that if you have an amiibo card of a villager you already have, it'll have a different effect when you use it. Maybe the villagers you get will give you HHD exclusive items or their picture?

It was technically intended to come out in 2011 in Japan, 2012 elsewhere, but got delayed. It even had to get an update in the Japanese version before you could even travel! Yeah, you need version 1.1 in Japan to even visit another town!! Now, it's going to get its second update there!!

As far as the update now, I bet there's new furniture- maybe even that introduced in HHD. That'd be great if it was, but I wonder for those like me who have the cartridge, you do realize that updates don't save to the cart, they save to the SD card, and I swap out my cart in multiple 3DS systems... :/

I really think HHD furniture will be available through Wisp. I think we'll have to do something to make him appear, then we get the choice of exclusive furniture or the opportunity to scan an amiibo card

Marie's design looks a bit off and she looks a little like a male, but Callie's design looks more accurate to how she's portrayed in Splatoon despite being squirrels. Regardless i'm still getting these two into town, no matter who or what I have to sacrifice.

I'm so excited for this update! I'm buying another copy for this update, since I don't have any intentions to change my makn town! Ahh I hope they do have hhd items in acnl, It'd be amazing. And I personally never played Splatoon, but Callie and Marie are too cute. I want to at least have one of them.

Plotting our villagers would be great.
