Yes, as I'm from a strict-ish Asian family, but I do want to get into college anyway as I enjoy learning new things.

Absolutely not. I'm going because I want to. They also haven't forced a major on me. Initially my mom tried so hard to to talk me out of going into music, but it didn't work. Now my parents fully accept me going into music. I don't think they'd accept anything else, actually.

No, I wanted to go. I chose to study information technology because it seemed interesting (even though I had no idea what it was about at the time). They're fine with it. I'm not sure if I'm following my dream, whatever it may be, but I'm not running into any problems so far.

I know my parents wouldn't let me not go to college, but that's not an issue because I want to go.

I wish my mom forced me to go to college, but we have no money so... I honestly wish that I would have been able to go to college to further my education and be able to have a career and not just a job. But hey, maybe someday...

i think my family expects me to go to university (which is kind of like college..?) and would b kinda angry if i didn't but uh idk. both my parents have very high education and they both have the mindset that you kind of have to study a lot to get a good life. my dad often says stuff that implies that he doesn't think that people with lower education aren't as happy, good or hard working as other people. i don't agree with him but uh yeah
i've always kind of felt pressured to get good grades and want to go to university but uhhh i don't think they would stop talking to me if i didn't

exactly this. My mom would support me wether if i went to college or not. She'd like me to go, but won't force me.

its not my place to tell you what you should and shouldnt do, but i'd only recommend working at those places as temp job. they dont sound very promising if you intend on depending on it for paying off tax dollars, utilities, etc. you cant live the rest of your life trying to avoid the hard routes and just do what's easy. but trust me, all the studying and time you put into it will be worth it once you finish the education process. if really want to get into programming, go for it. there will be other people studying it with you, and they'll be there to help and make things more fun. there is a lot of work required, as long as youre willing to put effort into it. but avoiding things just because its 'too much work' isnt the best way to go.

This is exactly what I wanted to say yesterday too, but I didn't want to come off as rude or anything. You can't live off of jobs like that. I've tried, it's pretty much impossible. I really wish I would've known this before I graduated high school and had to learn the hard way. I wasn't looking for the "easy" way either, I just wanted whatever I could get. Nothing was enough. I also applied to GameStop 10 different times and never got an interview. It really is not easy at all. Even stores like that want people who are in college. It's getting pretty ridiculous out there.

Luckily I was never pressured at all. I went to university because I really loved school and wanted to keep learning about things I was interested in. I'm in med school now and I have to say that some of my classmates were pressured to go into medicine and honestly they're going to make horrible doctors. They're already bitter and miserable and haven't even gotten to the watching people die every day part. Definitely go for careers that you really want otherwise you'll not only be hurting yourself but also the people that you're supposed to be helping with your work.

"watching people die every day part"

no ??????

No, my parents aren't forcing me to go, but I'm sure they're encouraging me to. I want to go to college anyway, since I in general like to learn and get better at things I do.

Sorta, after this summer I will be a senior. My parents told me I can either go to college (or a trade school, etc) or take the year off, BUT i have to get a job that is around 40 hours a week, they said if i do the latter I won't get paid very much and I will most likley change my mind and go to college
