No, my parents didn't force me because no one in my family has ever been to university before so they don't really know much about it, plus they know it's my choice ultimately. If I didn't go they would make me either get a job or get an apprenticeship or just at least SOMETHING so I didn't waste a year or whatever.

I'm just going to university because I want to haha, and they're okay with it. They seem more excited for me to go than I am.

I always wanted to go to uni, I always really liked school and learning so I knew it would be something I would do. I'm pretty sure my parents would have supported me in anything I did though, as long as it was something (i.e. not just bumming around at home)

Nope! My mother has told me countless times that not everyone goes to college and I don't have to if I can't or don't want to. However, I am most definitely going because I want to be a productive father and raise a family some day.

imo if they dont support you studying fashion in college then theyre not obligated to pay

and no i dont have that issue since i want to be an oncologist and hematologist and everyone i know supports me so

Yep. My family had high expectations since there are already double doctorates in my family and after a depressive episode they let me do what I want. I changed my major in the fields of science to art and game development.

Though in their defense I must admit that I enjoy college life so it's no biggie.

I put myself through trade school. I could have gone to a college to get a cosmetology education, but the education wouldn't have been as good, though the cost would have been lower.

yes because both of them didn't go and they want me to be the first to get into college in my family

I thankfully have the privilege of going to post-secondary whereas many people across the world would love to. Even though I have to take out student loans, it's better than no education at all.

i dont necessarily have to, but i know i'm going to really disappoint them if i dont. theyve been pressuring me in getting into the medical field for as long as i can remember, and i know its for the sake of being successful with money and everything. i wouldnt say that its something i want to do, but i dont have anything else in mind anyway

if its money they want then theres also business and law.

No. My parents said I could choose any job in life. If it requires college I'll have to go. I don't want to go, and thankfully the two jobs I want to apply for don't require college.

what jobs u looking at?
Ice cream store or Gamestop. I have love in games and picking out Ice cream for customers seem to be easy-peasy. I would make a game, but that requires.

A: Going to university.

B: Too much work.

if you want to make a game there are some online coding resources you can use to learn coding and drawing/art can be self-taught. but yea it is a lot of work. u dont need university though.

Ahh, I didn't know that. But still, don't want to make a game.

I'm already in college. If I didn't want to go to college, my parents probably would have forced me to go because my parents know you pretty much need a degree these days. But I knew that as well so they didn't have to force me to go.

Luckily I was never pressured at all. I went to university because I really loved school and wanted to keep learning about things I was interested in. I'm in med school now and I have to say that some of my classmates were pressured to go into medicine and honestly they're going to make horrible doctors. They're already bitter and miserable and haven't even gotten to the watching people die every day part. Definitely go for careers that you really want otherwise you'll not only be hurting yourself but also the people that you're supposed to be helping with your work.

its not my place to tell you what you should and shouldnt do, but i'd only recommend working at those places as temp job. they dont sound very promising if you intend on depending on it for paying off tax dollars, utilities, etc. you cant live the rest of your life trying to avoid the hard routes and just do what's easy. but trust me, all the studying and time you put into it will be worth it once you finish the education process. if really want to get into programming, go for it. there will be other people studying it with you, and they'll be there to help and make things more fun. there is a lot of work required, as long as youre willing to put effort into it. but avoiding things just because its 'too much work' isnt the best way to go.
