My second town got corrupted immediately after I restarted (just in two days). I think it was because I bought it used from GameStop. I didn't return it, I just started over since I didn't care. It hasn't corrupted yet and I've had it for a month. Not sure what caused it...

Yep this happen to me about a month ago.. :l I like my new town better though.. I feel like I have achieved something because I started with nothing because well... I didn't get anyone to hold me itrems .-. Why!?

Doing stuff like that doesn't always make this happen... I had it happen to me ONCE and I save and quit all the time.. Never dropped my card.... Not even in water... Put it in its case when I am not using it to make sure it doesn't get dusty...
Yet I lost my acnl data...
This is happening a lot... So don't call people liers... Special when you have grammar like yours...

wow we're starting to get a few corrupted file threads a day! So far so good for my game. And I've deleted files quite a bit! I'm sorry for all these unlucky people. Good for you for having a positive attitude about this though! The best thing to do is to dust yourself off and get back on your feet. Do your best!

It could be that the SD card or 3DS is a bad egg. Or maybe they opened the wrong folder when the SD card is in the computer (DCIM is the right folder).

So far I regained Mira, Hans, and Merengue. Also picked up a new friend in Soleil. Been TTing to get it started up. Going to try and get something from the campsite now from the 'guarenteed camper' day. Hopefully it is not a mouse. I have had the 9th villager was a mouse and a mouse also moved in after Rolf left. Hope one does not come from Pippy's leaving.
I'm sorry to hear that... One time I removed my SD card without knowing I had to shut off the 3DS and I corrupted everything on it. At the time I didn't have the digital version of ACNL I just had a cartridge, but I'm super careful with my digital copy and I try not to do anything funky with it but I know accidents do happen.
Every time you save your game it generates a new, random "Save ID" and stores that ID in both the SD/Savegame and the 3DS's system memory. Trying to load a save with mismatched IDs will result in being forced to wipe the save.
So if it gets interrupted while saving, some corruption may occur. This can also occur if you remove the cartridge from the 3DS. However, even if it is a digital copy, it can still be corrupted if you turn it off or interrupt the saving in some way.
