I usually keep everything and try to sell it before I run out of space...but, in the instance that I have a full inventory and want to catch something more valuable, I will release whatever is the least valuable fish I have...regardless of which water I'm near. Lol.
I mean I've released oceanfish in the river once bc my inventory was full but other than that no. There are actually quite a lot of fish who can live in both salt and freshwater btw!! So maybe it was fine lmao
On the topic of murders, I definitely crushed a lot cockroaches in my time travelling friend's house.
I release fish wherever it’s convenient. If I’m fishing in the sea and I catch I super expensive fish and my pockets are full I will totally toss a cheap river fish to make room.
An alternative: I usually forget to sell my fish and then just shove them into my storage until CJ comes and then I ask him to make me a model if I have enough haha. I don’t think I’ve ever released a fish in this game yet. Probably because I’m not as much of an avid fisher as some.
I've never really thought about it before as I just usually throw them in the nearest body of water because I'm too lazy to go to the location I caught them.
I mean... where do you think they go after you sell the to Nook's? They're there for profit, not pets .-. I'm an accomplice to whatever Timmy and Tommy do to them!
Why let go of a fish when you can sell it to Timmy and Tommy? Even just putting it in the drop-off box is better than letting that sweet, sweet profit slip away from your fingertips.
Thinking about it...I don't think I've actually released any fish before as I donate or sell.
Always check my pockets when I think they're getting full so I don't end up in a situation where I have to release something else to keep my current catch.
I try to always sell my fish, but when I get black bass or sea bass when trying to catch something else, I admit that sometimes out of spite I will release them in the wrong body of water (and other times because of laziness and not caring about the money I could get from them).
mostly I'm too lazy to care, but I also find it amusing that the game treats water as water as water and the fish keeper in me is like ooooh the great taboo while my own home fish look on in horror
