Are Welcome Amiibo cards shareable?

Can I use the cards on multiple 3DSs? Can I ask the same villager to move in to multiple towns?

Oh, good, thanks for asking this (and for the answer!). I recently purchased my first amiibo villager cards and was wondering if my grandson and I could both use them on our 2 different DS's. Yay!
