I just bought a Japanese 3DS and a Japanese copy of AC. I can streetpass fine between the Japanese 3DS and my US 3D XL. But I can't have my Japanese villager visit my US village--and my US village doesn't recognize that the Japanese gates are open when I try a reversal of a visit attempt.
Any ideas? I've tried local play and internet. It doesn't look as though the Japanese 3DS wants to connect to the Internet (I don't read Japanese--another goal of having this) because I can't get the gates open with the Internet option.
That's odd. Iv'e seen blogs where people have gone to other towns to get region specific items from region specific holidays in other towns, and I know in order to have those holidays the 3Ds must be from that region. I'm not sure what's wrong.
For anyone who might have the same problem I did--my game needed an update to Version 1.1. I did that, and my little illy is happily visiting her US cousins now.
I don't really get the idea of buying an Japanese (or any other language) DS while you can't even read that language? What's the fun about that? I see countless people doing this when games came out like Mariokart7 and so on, but...why? If
Though if you need someone to translate things I might be able to help you. I've a basic knowledge of the Japanese language and I should be able to translate to an amount of things that I could understand what their saying in total. Though after I translated it, it will be a problem translating it from my native language to English because my english is very bad I think :S
i dont see the appeal of having a japanese ds either - i mean i guess you could get the dlc and region locked items, but ive gotten all of them through other people who live in japan?
i just think its a waste of money, but that may be just because im broke, haha
