If the event is like in RL and in RL time i will 100% tt to celebrate it probably in the same day but like in the morning where ill probably be free while i drink my morning coffee, the evening i would rather spend it in RL with my family hehehe

I don't have TV, and the countdown programs weren't something I cared for, anyway, so using the game's countdown isn't a problem. I'll probably let my game run in the background after collecting whatever goodies Isabelle/villagers hand out and read a book. I have New Year's Day off, so staying up a bit later isn't a problem.

If I may make a case for doing the countdown in AC: For the whole day there's a countdown clock that's ticking down the time. There'll be characters wandering around the plaza commenting on it and as it gets closer to midnight more will show up and they'll start to get more excited. The music also changes to set the mood. In NL they wore cute hats haha. The last few seconds to midnight really build up the tension until we get the big release! And then it's fun to see the special fireworks, feel the atmosphere etc.

I did a poor job explaining the appeal but that's generally how it goes down. I think if it weren't for AC I wouldn't think much of New Years but the games do such a good job of making it feel like a big deal that it makes me get into the real-life cause.

I can't even remember the last time I went to sleep earlier than midnight and I got nothing else to do so yeah I'll be rocking out all alone on animal crossing, probably doing a bunch of dancing emotes in front of isabelle to show her how excited I am. can't wait.

i already accidentally did it because i was a few days ahead and i didn't think it was too great. unless there's anything else that will only be unlocked on new years (which i don't think??? but idk) i won't be doing it again, instead i will be celebrating irl lol

I will be doing my best to party with all my villagers but I don't really think it's an important event apart from the items as well as the items you get on January 1st.

After thinking about it, I'm probably going to use my ACNH town as the ball drop a la Times Square. Just have it on my tv in the background while I hang out and have pizza and brie with my hubby.

I will this year. I never have done before because I’m always celebrating with family/at my parents’ house. Because of Covid restrictions, I can’t go anywhere, so I’ll take advantage of that and actually have my game on whilst on video call with family or something!

I stay up for new years anyway so I will do it. In real time if I can swing it. If not, then I will set the clock a little ahead for the event itself. I don't like messing with my switches clock as I would be afraid I would be tempted to keep doing it, bit will make an exception if needed to for this event.

I’m going to participate! I’m looking forward to it. I won’t be going out for New Years given the pandemic and I don’t generally do much anyways since I personally don’t drink and that’s what happens at a lot of parties. So I love loading up my animal crossing game on New Years and watching the little fireworks in game I think the New Years ones are always extra cozy because of the snow!
