Anyone not doing new year event

I won't be skipping! I plan to invite a friend over a few minutes before the countdown to celebrate. Simple - nothing elaborate.

The New Year's music is usually a treat, and I want to nab the goodies Tom Nook and Isabelle will be handing out (even though they will be there long before midnight).

I want to do it for sure, just might not be able to do it on New Years Eve because I'm going out to watch fireworks. But I will definitely time travel back to experience the event. I'm looking forward to it!

i definitely won’t be skipping it! while i likely won’t be playing in real time as i get tired pretty early, now, i boot up my game around 4pm-5pm everyday and so i’ll probably play the event somewhere around that time on new year’s eve aha.

I will time travel tomorrow to do the event earlier, no other choices for me because I really want to start the new year friday ^^.

I'm definitely doing it, but haven't quite figured out how yet. I've been with my husband for 20 years, and for 20 years, we've counted down the New Year and had our New Year's kiss every year since our first New Year's together. So I will be with my husband for the actual countdown. But I love experiencing the in-game holidays on the holiday because it feels jolly. You're in the mood and happy, and AC is all bundled up with the feels of the holiday. So I think I may set my ACNH clock so it chimes midnight on my island 15 minutes after the real midnight. Celebrate with my boo first, then with my villager friends. ❤

I'm planning on resetting my island on/after New Years, so no. Hopefully I can find someone else celebrating it after me, so I can unlock the airport and fly to their island to celebrate new years.

I really want to because I think we get a nook mile achievement but I'm going to be spending that time with my family instead. I don't tt but I'm hoping I can go to a friends island and get the reward that way.

I am very fortunate this year to have someone to spend NYE with IRL, so this will be the first ACNH event I miss. But I'll check in with Isabelle and Tom Nook tomorrow morning to at least get some of the swag. My villagers' new years resolutions will have to be a mystery as I refuse to time travel, though I've never been more tempted! RIP getting all the Nook Miles achievements anytime soon though...

Definitely will be doing this event! I don't have any plans, I'll just be at home with my parents who will probably go to bed before midnight anyways. So I'll celebrate in game instead

Oh good, thanks for this thread. I was trying to figure this out... so for the countdown, I don't have to sync up with real time? I can just as well manipulate the clock? (I'm usually wiped out and sleeping by the time midnight rolls around.)

I’ll be up anyways so I’ll definitely be doing it. Heck if I’m somehow asleep before midnight any night it’s a miracle.

I get some people are more up in the morning and go to bed early types, but with a game that runs in real time you can’t please everyone unfortunately. Worst case you can time travel back to it the next day, or if you are against time travelling even a little bit you could always watch an archived stream from the night before. There are bound to be lots of popular and small streamers alike playing the event for others to watch.

I'm skipping it too. I prefer doing other stuff irl during New Year's and not spend it on AC, I might celebrate Toy Day and New Year's sometime in January. I want to give AC a little break for now.

Gonna check it out since I'm curious of how the event is in NH. I celebrated last year in New Leaf too and found it overall kinda fun.

Theres people who don't stay up past midnight? Man, I had better fix my sleep schedule.

Buuuut of course I'm staying up. Weirdly enough the New Years in AC is more important to me than the real life New Years. I mean don't get me wrong I like the irl New Years, but TVs are always outta sync and you never know exactly when things are happening. Plus since I live on the West Coast we see things replayed for us which is bonkers. Everyone else is already in the New Year so I sorta get the back-end of it from all my friends if you know what I mean.

All rambling aside I'm excited to spend it on the island with my villagers, and maybe have my mom come over to the island as well
