Last night I set out to find a snooty. The first few islands had mediocre villagers. I passed on Miranda and Timbra (big regret on Timbra) because I was hoping for Tipper, Friga, Olivia, Opal, Vivian, or Tiffany. How hard could it be to find them?
Very hard.
45 tickets later (my last one!) I found Yuka. I wasn't initially planning on taking her at first but her soft voice and just general cuteness convinced me (and it was my last ticket)
In the process of finding her, I turned down the following (some of them I debated for forever on)
-Apollo
-Mitzi
-Julian
-Audie
-Olaf (I felt absolutely terrible since he was a dreamie, but he was more at the bottom of my dreamie list than others, and I already had a smug. I will find you in the future, Olaf!)
-Wolfgang
Hopefully I'm not the only one whose had this dilemma. Audie would have been my third peppy, I already had a cranky whom I loved, Mitzi would have been my fourth normal, Wolfgang and Olaf would have been my second smug and I'm working on kicking out Beardo.
I have left behind villagers that were on my long list. It has worked out so far. I don't mind cycling villagers because I want their photos and I like change and not seeing the same ones all the time.
There's 3 dreamies on my island now. There was four but I decided I'm ready to switch it up with Reneigh.
Most of the villagers I ran into were popular ones that weren't on my list (Merengue, Coco, etc.) but in recent times I did run into Purrl and Freya.
Purrl was one of the top choices for my Snooty villager early on, that was before I really fell for Vivian and also began prioritizing villagers I've never had (Purrl was in my original GCN town). I couldn't take Purrl this time even if I wanted, because I had just moved out Hippeux and was looking for a Smug villager I liked. I had a member offering to giveaway Colton to me, so it just couldn't be - it was either a Smug I found on the islands or Colton. It made me very sad.
I ran into Freya more recently. She was the very first wolf villager that the game graced me with naturally. I was seeking out Audie or Cleo that day and had plenty of NMTs to purchase one of them (well, I was a bit short for Audie, but... We'll get into that later), but since I like the rush of going to islands I thought "Just one NMT". I really thought it couldn't be someone that would make me feel anything, it was likely to be a mouse or a lion or something... Instead it was Freya. My mind was blown. I put my Switch to sleep while still on the island with Freya, and I didn't turn it back on and leave until I secured a deal to get Audie (who thankfully I got for, I believe, 80 NMTs, which was all I had).
The game gave me a wolf villager, and I didn't take her. =(
Yes!!! Each time I saw a good villager I would debate internally whether to bring them home while chopping down all the trees to gain resources Usually I would have reached a decision by the time I finished gathering the resources haha
I had to leave Audie and Raymond behind while island hunting for Chester last night. They were tempting, and I felt like the game was asking me to choose between "time, friendship, or money" (you know, like the cranky villagers do) lol
Both times, I sat down ready for a night of island hopping and the first time the first island had Lucky, and the second time the first island had Static.
They are both on my list but I just didn't want the journey to end so early
If you're hopping for one particular villager at the time it's easy to get tunnel vision and pass on other villagers you'd like to have. Personally I just like to see as many different villagers as I can on island hops. There were quite a few I never seen in game before, some old villagers I've had previously, and some popular ones I just wasn't interested in (a lot of wolves...) Makes me wish I had a second town to juts fill up with interesting villagers.
Ugh, yes. I passed on Sherb TWICE in one round 'cause I needed a snooty lady. I also passed on Tucker. At the time I was planning on keeping my lazy guy for awhile, but now I want him to move (he's been great... but I've got his pic and it's time for him to move on) and am really regretting leaving them
I eventually settled for Cleo that time around. She's pretty cute, but wasn't a top choice or anything.
To contrast, I literally cannot pass up a good villager. Doesn't matter if I'm after a particular personality, if I see one I like, I'm inviting them to my island.
I was in need of a uchi villager. Went island hunting, and ended up with Sylvana, my 3rd normal villager. Didn't have a uchi villager for over a month. But she's so cute and it was definitely worth it!
I've passed up a bunch of good villagers. The last time I island hopped I passed up on Stitches, Ankha and Lucky, because I was trying to find Kabuki that day.
Thankfully I actually did find Kabuki, so it was worth it in the end!
I left Dobie and Fauna, 2 of my favourites from New Leaf, because I needed a snooty villager specifically and kinda wanted to prioritize villagers I had never had before. I was pretty sad though But I adore Blaire, who I ended up getting. So i guess it's all good in the end ^_^
I was hunting for a smug the other day, and my third ticket was Skye who I left... jokes on me because in the end I found and took Dom so I still have no smugs and now I have 3 jocks rip
Earlier in the game when I was island hopping I think I passed up Dobie bc i already had a cranky wolf (wolfgang)
My friends bf ran into Judy two times... in a ROW wtf, and he didnt take her, took Kody instead.......
Usually I would have reached a decision by the time I finished gathering the resources haha
But I adore Blaire, who I ended up getting. So i guess it's all good in the end ^_^
