Anyone else with a drifting joy con? Need emotional support here

I felt so so worried this could potentially happen to my Switch Lite that I ordered a pro-controller after playing AC for a little bit.
It really sucks because it kind of defeats the purpose of the Lite plus I know that the pro-controller can experience drifting issues, too.
I wouldn't have bothered with the Lite had I known about all the drifting issues since I also own an OG Switch but I really prefer handheld gaming and I badly wanted a 3ds replacement.
I guess if something does happen to the Lite, I'll go to one of those shoddy places that take it apart and replace the joy cons because my country doesn't have an official Nintendo center and I suck at fixing anything (there are videos on Youtube on how to replace joy cons on both the Lite and the normal Switch for all those feeling adventurous - I think there's also someone here who attempted it and was successful).
I also really hope they do cloud saves. That would put my mind at ease.

I legit have this nightmare happening to me one day so I invested in a controller, no regrets and honestly best choice I ever made so I don't get constant anxiety of a drifting joycon and checking nonstop.

I know joy con drift can occur whenever, but I’ve been using th same pro controller for MONTHS and it hasn’t shown any sign of drift. Maybe they’re better designed?

Tell me about it. My original controller is impossible to use. Its just straight out garbage. Also my right original joycon started drifting after 2 years. Not so bad but I feel it started drifting due to constant camera moving in three houses. Now I use my pink and green neon ones and my left joycon already drifts. Sometimes I'm doing something and I leave it on standby I see the character running by itself like girl where you going.

My nightmare is accidentally telling a villager to move out. Hopefully that never happens. I'd be so mad I'll stop playing for a long while.

yes, and this literally NEVER happened before I played acnh. It started drifting a little maybe 50 hrs in? (so like maybe 200hrs playtime total across all my switch games). My left joycon is basically useless now, it continually drifts upwards, and it won't even register downwards movement anymore... so I gotta use my pro controller every time I want to play :( I was gonna buy new joycons but looks like there's still stock issues so they're still double the price online sigh

I submitted a ticket with nintendo since I think they're still fixing for free? but their repair centres are still closed bc of covid, and I bought my switch in japan so honestly idk if it's even eligible :( honestly ridiculous this happens when the controllers are so pricey (like $90 in canada!!!), my friend said her PRO CONTROLLER is drifting too wtf and now I'm scared of that happening as well. Like even my wii controllers still work fine and I've had those for over 10 years!!

It's only started with my in the last month or so, but it's hit me so hard all of sudden. At first it was just a little annoying but now some days it's almost unplayable. I have my stick pushed all the way down and my character is barely registering a move. Terraforming cliffs and rivers is such a chore and always pops down exactly where I don't want, and I'm terrified of one of my favourite villagers asking to move out and it drifting onto the yes option. :- (

Also was at a meteor shower and it was impossible to keep the camera pointed up at the stars to wish because it kept thinking I was walking away... I'm gonna have to cave and buy new ones, these are the same I've had since launch day so they've lasted me 3 long years, but I'm still salty to pay all that money for new ones

i feel like ninty just won't bother fixing them because they know people will just buy new joycons and it makes them more money, sad but wouldn't shock me with their business practices

i got a lite because there were no regular switches available online, once drift starts i'll probably just stop playing tbh, i really only bought another switch for NH and i'll probably be tired of it by then

I’ve fixed my joy ones by buying replacing the sticks. The only probelm- most third party replacements don’t have an NFC reader(no amigo support) so scanning in my SSBU amiibo’s is quite a chore

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
It's important to note that ANY controller can drift - it's not something that's unique to Nintendo joy cons or controllers BUT the issue does seem to be a lot more prevalent with their types of controllers because of the design.
However; other controls can drift too - this includes Xbox or PS ones.

They're known to be better - yes. But any controller can experience drift.

I need to ask; are you guys not taking your controllers to repair shops bc of the quarentine, or, like, where you live repairshops don't exist? Bc it seems soo extreme to spend so much to buy new ones when you can get it fixed for less than 15 bucks?

Repair shops are closed due to quarantine, yes. Also, if I was going to have electronics fixed I would prefer to have them fixed first party (i.e. by Nintendo), as I've had bad experiences in the past. I don't really want to send them away in the post to Nintendo -- especially not at the moment as it's taking a lot longer than usual. On top of that, if I went down that route I'd also be stuck without controllers for weeks and would have to buy new ones anyway...

So honestly the easiest, preferred fix for me right now is just to buy new ones -- with the bonus that I could get new colours too :- ).

Oh, I see.. I've just had really good experiences with getting my nintendo stuff fixed in repair shops where they legit just open the console in front of you and fix it in 20 minutes and send you on your merry way. I guess sending them to nintendo is too much of a hassle.

In some countries Nintendo is very lenient and replacing them for free. Might be worth checking out. I believe after 3 years of these problems being known Nintendo should have fixed it already and should now be giving everyone free replacements.

I feel for people with a Switch Lite, being unable to keep a backup of your ACNH save file or transferring it, when the Switch Lite is also plagued by JoyCon Drift. Nintendo is such a weird company sometimes...
i have a switch lite and no issue with it so far. For heavy fighting like smash or shooters i use a pro controller

The drifting joy con was a complete nightmare especially when terraforming, it was so frustrating I decided to buy a wireless controller especially since I usually play connected to the tv. It was pretty expensive but now I play so much more comfortably. Best choice ever

I Got the Pokemon System as i like a 3DS Replacement too. I Got a Pro controller as there a Stand/Snap-on for it to hold the light Nintendo switch lite for viewing when sitting. I Do play on the TV like my Xbox or PS3. But The Nintendo switch lite for this old Gammer look like a updated GBA with Backlight built in. So i am a sucker for Pokemon style System or AC style system. BTW The Stand/ Snap on is the
OIVO Switch Pro Controller Clip Mount for Nintendo Switch/Switch Lite, Adjustable Clip Clamp Holder Mount for Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

For me I chose to go the pro controller route because even if you get controllers fixed by Nintendo they WILL drift again. Same goes for replacing the joy-stick via a non-Nintendo repairshop.

Felt like I was choosing between paying for a product that will last me longer vs. having to constantly haul my joycons in for repairs.

I know even pro controllers can drift (all controllers can, as pointed out by someone else on here) but they drift more rarely judging by the research I did on this when my left joycon decided to drift.

That said, I would definitely try repairs first if I had to choose between buying new joycons vs getting them fixed. Just can't justify paying so much for a product I know will fail with time.

Totally, I understand this feeling.
I used to play with the Mario Red joycons and they would drift like crazy, digging was a nightmare.
Ultimately I tried all of the tricks that help to fix the drifting but nothing helped.
I had to buy new joycons, and I contacted Nintendo’s customer support so I can send my old joycons and get them fixed.
However, since they’re not open at full capacity yet, they tell you that they will get to you when it’s your turn.
So, it will take some time.

That suck. i hope my lite at my late mother got for me dose not drift as it was my last charisma gift i got from her

I think everyone knows all controllers can drift. The quality of the joy cons are just so terrible.

Why do my controllers that are at least 5 years old not drift yet but my joy cons are already drifting without barely having been used?

Various people in this thread mention they have multiple pairs that drift already or that their joycons have started drifting without having been used much

i've just playing and my drift is now making my switch literally unplayable.. for this whole video i had my stick pushed completely down, i didnt move it at all other than fully down and this is how my character moved

also ive been checking around near me and they're pretty much sold out everywhere o_O so i might have to cave in and try an at-home fix which i'm not super excited about
