Anyone else super upset about the furniture situation? (Love the game, hate to complain!)

(I'm really not trying to annoy anyone or rub people the wrong way with this complaint, but it's just too bothersome to keep to myself. I also hope some others feel the same way.)

Also, I *KNOW* there will be updates, this is just me getting stuff off my back.

Anyway, the furniture!

It just feels extremely limited to me. There are 1,700+ furnitire items in New Leaf - in New Horizons, there are 1,100 items. Yes, not too much of a difference BUT there are 3-5 variations of like 70-80% of that furniture which means there are truly 540-570 pieces of furniture. Everything just seems so basic and limited now in terms of furniture, I've lost some of my motivation to dive into decorating.

I'd also like to promote some discussion though and welcome all opinions. What's your take on the new furniture situation?

I imagine they plan to roll out more, but they're being so slow at doing so.

I'm glad that the items that exist in NH have more color options than NL, and that they're more customizable in general. But I agree, I do think we need more furniture. I think the clothing options are actually really good in this game, and pro designs means you can put in whatever you think is missing. But there's not much we can do about the limited furniture options.

The thing that makes me worried is that every villager has already had their houses designed. Even if/when Nintendo gradually adds furniture back into the game, I highly doubt they're going to redesign every villager house, so villagers will be stuck with the samey-looking houses they have now.

Yup I really wish there was more. The ironwood, antique and rattan furniture are nice and all, but I need more??? There's not a lot of variation and everyone's homes (even the villagers) start to look the same after a while. The diy aspect of the game is nice which is why I think they released so few sets, but it's so limited right now and I just want something new to put in my house or decorate my island with.

I know that the new shell series replaces it. But I kinda prefer that design.

i’m not super upset by it but it is kind of disappointing that in the game that gives us so much decorative freedom, they took away a lot of sets and items from us ;u;

Idk if anyone's mentioned it, but the fact that there's already a whole book printed and set in stone that includes all the in game items including furniture really makes me.... not hopeful at all (that they'll include more than what we're seeing including seasonal in future updates)

bc the furniture situation is frankly barren in this game ESPECIALLY considering that we have 92490283x the space to decorate since we can put it all outside, and there's already a complete guide book out? this makes me rlly worried tbh

Yes, it's definitely frustrating. There is a lot of furniture available as it is. The problem is that it feels like a large downgrade from New Leaf.

We only have like 5-6 sets not counting seasonal furniture? That's not nearly enough. I'm confident they will add more furniture in the coming months, but it's still discouraging.

Guide books usually don't include future content though, do they? That doesn't worry me at all, to be honest. I still think more furniture sets and more furniture overall is coming our way. It's just annoying to have to wait.

Yeah, I'm wondering why they took all the iconic furniture sets out
. I've found myself complaining a lot lately actually about all these small details so I think I'm going back to NL or taking a break ;_;

I've found that I've made like 20 log benches and similar things for my island because there's really just a lack of good outdoor furniture. And my home isn't really all that interesting either, it's just woodsy and plain. I miss the sleek and alpine sets

While I do love some of the new DIY furniture I feel like the stuff in Nooks could be better. I saw a post the other day about how froggy chair isn't even in the game. I hadn't noticed that lol but how could they miss that classic? The #1 set I want back is rococo but it would be nice if they brought more of the ACNL sets back.

and it wouldnt be much of a completionist guide without "future content." which is why i'm worried and uncertain about if we're really gonna get any new and never before seen items. i could definitely be wrong though, and i'm def saying this guide means we're 100% not getting anything more than wwhat's in there. but it's just not a good sign imo

I mean, in NL a lot of the furniture was part of fortune cookies, rv’s, and other exclusive ways. It does feel lacking though, and I wish you could customize more non-crafted furniture.

it doesn’t bother me as much but I understand being upset about it. There is a thread that compared the furniture numbers between all the games. According to that thread When New leaf first came out it roughly the same amount of furniture as New horizons but in NH there are notable sets missing. The biggest difference is when the Welcome ambiio update came that added a lot of furniture into the game just to keep that in mind.

Well, from a marketing standpoint it would be rather silly to advertise that there would be additional content in the future if they're selling a "finished product". It could deter people from getting the guide. It's completionist for the game as it stands right now. I don't disagree with you, just trying to spin it for hope's sake. I do feel very confident that they will add more furniture. I don't think we need to worry.

I'm pretty bummed about the furniture situation. In my opinion decorating your house is a pretty big aspect of the game so I'm honestly shocked that they've decreased the furniture sets - especially since we can place furniture outside in this game, too. I'm hoping that they'll add more as time goes on but honestly I'm getting a bit of tired of waiting for more to be added via updates.

Agreed. And it would be nice if they could update the villagers' interiors too, although I don't see that happening tbh. The poor normals and snooties all have the same houses

also, I played WW and CF but had to skip NL (I was in my senior year of highschool and focusing on classes and college applications) and all these posts talking about features missing in NH make me really want to go buy NL and play it too
