Anyone else still buying amiibo cards?

I also find good deals on Mercari!! I would love to see what you put up there for sale! I’m also doing trades on here as well. Anyone else still doing trades?

Luckily I bought a lot of packs when they were still available in stores. I ended up with a lot of dupes and was able to trade for ones I wanted. I also bought a few cheap on ebay pre-NH.

Moral Dilemma:
I still have quite a few duplicate cards. Is it wrong to sell those on Ebay for crazy prices if I plan to use the money to buy other overpriced cards? For example, if I sell Merry for $30, and then turn around and buy Bianca for $30?

I didn't read through every page on here so I'm not sure if other people are talking about this, but I just got some NFC chips from Aliexpress for $2 and I'm going to make some. I have like three packs worth of the cards from back when they were in stores originally, but there's no way I'm spending the kind of money people are charging when I can just make my own. It's not like any of the money even goes to the creators of the game, so I don't feel bad about it if that makes sense 🤷‍♀️ I'll definitely buy more when they re-release them in NA though, just because I think they're cute!

I'm actually a seller, and can I ask what the hell people like so much about Euguene on ebay?

he's like a bottom tier character and yet I watched an auction of him that went for £30! I'm pretty chuffed to have his amiibo card for that reason but it's weird to see such an unpopular villager with such a high price tag

I haven't really bought any in months, since before New Horizons came out. I think I'm in need of some though, because trying to find Tucker was an absolute nightmare that took weeks of Nook Miles Island trips to see to completion. I kind of refuse to pay more than like $5 for a single card or NFC though, so it's going to be difficult since interest has been renewed in the community thanks to New Horizons' release and basically everyone's prices have gone up even for the lowest-tiered villagers. Kicking myself a bit for not grabbing the ones I wanted before launch. Unfortunately lack the means of producing the NFC chips myself too, so it's this or a bunch of Nook Miles Islands or campsite tricks.

I would if they weren't horrendously overpriced (packs too because they only have three cards here in Europe) and I regret not buying more before ACNH.

Yes. I was never interested in purchasing amiibo’s, but I really wanted two villagers for sure and the amiibo was the best way. So I bought my first two babies, Tiffany and Tucker, for a good price, but now I can’t stop. I’ve recently hit the jackpot on eBay for good prices and ugh I want to buy all of my favs now

BUT - I resist. Because it’s so much more fun finding them on your own with island hopping. If i had all of my dreamies via amiibo it would be too easy and boring

((If your looking for Sanrio amiibos, I found a REALLY good deal on all 6. They’re homemade but still))

I was able to find these packs on eBay if you’re interested. Not to horrendously pricey and people are reviewing they’re legit

Sell them for whatever they're worth, if people are willing to pay 30$ why would you sell for 2$.

Yes sometimes! I think I've bought six random packs from the Nintendo website, and the rest I'll hunt for good deals on eBay. The most I've spent on a card is Opal (£10 including shipping). I've not incorporated any cards in my game yet

I have the entirety of season 1 cards when they had just begun to sell the cards years ago.

Now I have NFC stickers and make my own personal homemade ones. Nothing fancy just plastic coin cases, a pretty glitter sticker, and an image of the character inside.

I told myself it would be cheaper this way but I've spent a pretty penny buying these supplies! Making them is actually pretty fun.

I found neat photo pendant charms recently that fit the 25mm sticker size and want to start making amiibos with them.

I keep telling myself to wait for an English rerelease (fingers crossed) but I just cant help myself! I refuse to pay over $20 for a single card but Ive managed to find a few decently priced cards, I recently got a Deirdre card for $8 and a Poncho card for $6. Im now eyeing a Claude card someone is selling for $15 but thats kinda pushing it for me.

really wish nintendo would have done a rerelease with the launch of the game

Anyone else still buying cards? and if you are where have you found good deals? (Ive personally been using Mercari)
Just thought I mention this, there are these cards you can get they you transpire amibos from a rootedness app on your phone, never tried it dunno if ac characters are in it seems kinda sketch but they are there and cost like 10 dollars for a pack

I know there are other means of getting "amiibos" but trying not to discuss them too much cause I am not sure if it is against the rules : 0

I'll wait until the rerelease, but I have a fair number of them already. I've been scanning them into my campsite to farm for DIYs. Thankfully, I had cards for the villagers I want to keep, so I was also able to redo them to get rid of the starter houses.

I bought some NFC cards and they work just like my actual amiibo cards, and I can get who I want!
it's so much cheaper.. I paid like €17 for 15 cards

though I would REALLY want some more real amiibo cards, it's just not worth it or me

As a seller, I try my best to keep “unpopular” cards under the $10 mark

When I’m offering a popular card I usually make it an auction. I’m not one to set a high bar for a card so I keep the starting bid low (like $10 although I guess some people consider that too high as well). It’s up to the buyers on how far they’re willing to go.

Its a battle of mentality really. While I don’t want to rip people off... money though. That’s why I try to not nudge people into starting off high, but I tend to remain idle if a bidding war ensues

I thought I’d only ever buy 2 cards of my favourite villagers, but I recently got Nan’s card too because I want to put her in her proper house. I could see this slowly becoming a problem for me...

Granted none of the cards I got were very expensive. I see cheaper prices on eBay if you’re willing to sit on auctions instead of ‘buy it now’.
