Anyone else still buying amiibo cards?

I heard about the japanese rerelease! Sadly by the time I had they seemed to have already been closed preorders : o do japanese cards work for an english game?

amiibo are region free so you can use them on any region system, even 3DS. I don't think they're any cheaper to buy than in the US though right now. Marshal cards are still going for about 10,000 yennies (~$90). Hopefully prices go down once they're available at retailers.

I always find it surprising when the shipping for cards is expensive :0 I hope cards will become more affordable soon!

Thanks, yeah one card will sell for like $30-$100 and then shipping will be about $20 and I don't really feel like paying that much for a chip with data

I have all the cards I want. I got all 50 of the Welcome Amiibo cards in packs back when they were still available, then sold my doubles on ebay. I used to pick up the series 1-4 cards at our local Toys R Us on clearance ($1.99 for six cards!) I don't have all 333 villager cards, but I have all the ones I want, including all 67 special character cards. Again, I sold the duplicates on ebay.

I bought a pack before New Horizons came out and got a decent haul (Zucker notably) + I bought Poncho's card since it was cheap and he's a favorite of mine! Haven't bought anymore yet tho, but I have used other... methods to get the villagers I want

Even though you're guaranteed the card you want if you buy it individually I just can't bring myself to buy a single card for $5+.
I think it would be pretty cool if there was some kind of event like at a comic-con or something like that where we could gather and trade cards so everyone is happy without spending crazy money

If you only care about getting the villager and not the card itself, there's actually ways to make your own using nfc tags ! I've bought some from people over on etsy for $3.50 per villager. Wayyy cheaper than the wild prices i see for official amiibo cards lol! Of course, I can understand wanting to have the actual cards, theyre so cute ♥

Actually, there are apps to be able to do that on iOS as well now! I won't go into any further detail, but you can literally just google it.

I have an iPhone so I'll probably end up giving it a go. I still want to buy some official cards packs when they get released in the US though. I bought a few when they were still available in-store and the highlight pull was Ankha!
