Anyone else noticed that wasps are slow in this game? XD

It's one of the first things I noticed when I started playing lol
In older games, they were faster than the player, so you had to be really close to a building, or grab them with a net.
But in this game, they're equally as fast as the player!!! If you control your character well and don't bump into anything, you can run completely to the other side of the island. I always make it a challenge to try and run to my museum xD

i have noticed that! i was very confused the first time i managed to easily run from the wasp. i remember getting so upset as a kid playing city folk, i would get stung by wasps all the time... but now it's easy to avoid them.

i haven't tried to make it to the other side of my island though, maybe i'll do that today!

honestly i didn't notice that, i never caught a wasp until new horizons so that would probably explain how i got one lol

... how tf did you outrun those darn wasps? seriously?

before i knew you could catch them, i always tried to outrun them - always. to no avail. i would always end up getting swarmed and then shari would always come to my rescue with some medicine. and my island was fairly underdeveloped then, so i definitely wasn't bumping into anything maybe i just suck when it comes to escaping the baddies for the critters? i've been playing since near the beginning of june, and just the other night i finally caught a tarantula without mucking it up, so..

i've never had that luck when running away from wasps
i don't shake trees without my net now for that reason, unless i've already knocked down the 5 on my island for the day.

I noticed this as well!! I never used to be able to catch wasps in the previous games but I've got Dozens in this one haha

I only played New Life and honestly can't see a difference although I know lots of people find them easy to catch in New Horizons. Can't say I've managed to do it yet though. I always miss and end up getting stung.

They're slower than they were in NL, but I can't outrun them. Also, if I don't have my net in hand when I shake the tree, if I try to take the net to catch them, it doesn't work, because even though they can't sting you during the animation, as soon as you take control of your character after grabbing your net, they insta-sting you.

if you're having trouble catching them, hold your net and shake the tree from the front middle, right in front of the trunk. the wasp nest will fall to either the left or the right, and when your character turns to face it, just start spamming the A button. i catch them every time like that.

I didn't really notice it, but it makes sense as I always got stung in the other games and in this one I never do unless I really screw up. They probably nerfed them like they did with Resetti (because of him making kids cry)

Thanks for the advice i'll give that a try.
