anyone else kind of worried about using the dream suite immediately?

like...with all the hacked items, is it possible that going to a hacked island could glitch your own game somehow?

i’m probably being overly paranoid as i don’t think it was an issue in NL but NH has been so glitchy with their online

I suspect visiting a Dream Suite island will be way, way safer than touring an island normally because it’s static and set at all times of your visit

I don't think this would be an issue... It's like you would be punished for visiting an island you didn't even chose? (in random mode)

I visited a lot of hacked towns through NL's dream suite and nothing ever happened to my town. I don't think that anything bad would happen with visiting a copy of a hacked island.

As others are saying, I'm not too worried because we'll have cloud saves at that point. However I don't think it would be able to corrupt your own save file/island anyway, even with how wonky the online is for NH.

Wait, really? I thought the whole point of the dream was visiting without messing up the island. And also your uploaded file could be entirely different from your island's current state

Not at all! I had good experience of using the dream suite in New Leaf. And besides, I will only view islands in this community.

It wouldn't mess up the victim's game but the other person would like turn the entire dream town into their own, right down to even the player characters. I don't remember the details (and probably couldn't discuss them here) but it had to do with cheats, not a save editor or anything like that. I don't know if hacked Switches have reached that level of access yet but they probably will eventually.

I'm not worried. In NL you could visit hacked islands without consequences. If you end up stuck somewhere due to glitches/hacks just exit the game and reload. So I think it will be safe

If they haven't already, I agree that they probably will at some point! I guess in essence they're just pulling the town save from the online server and saving over their own file with it. Thank you for explaining! I'd never heard of that happening in NL, until now!

New Leaf had plenty of hacked towns that you could visit and for the most part you were safe visiting them. I guess if people are that worried there could be stickied list of verified DA from everyone here so people could check them out. There used to be a sticky DA for NL where everyone would add their town and claim if it was hacked/non-hacked.

I wonder what would happen to people if they had the star trees and other hacked items… I’m guessing it would actually be stored in the Dream Suite anyways

i’m glad i posted this thread because i feel a lot better about it now! i think i’ll stick to visiting belltree users at first though didn’t even think of that haha.

i do really want to visit random islands, will probably wait a week or two just in case

i dont' think hack item would be a prob since I've visited islands with star trees and such. At release I prob jump of it and mess around with dream suite right away.

I don't think there will be an issue because the items are set in place right?
like, when visiting a dream island, I don't think you can interact in ways like shaking trees
I never used the feature in NL so I'm not sure, but I don't think it will be dangerous

I'm actually really looking forward to it! can't wait to visit loads of islands and get burned out with it in no time <3
