Slow is good. Animal Crossing is the kind of game where you NEED to take things a little slow and enjoy it! Who cares that you don't have shampoodle yet? You can visit another town for it if you need to
A great thing about Animal Crossing is that competition is not a worry. There is no rush to unlock things. Restarting was probably good in the long run because for a long-term investment game like this, you need to LOVE your town.
I'm considering restarting. I would if it weren't for the fact that I love my town layout and some of my favorite villagers are here. And I've made a lot of progress. But I planned really poorly when adding permanent Public Works, my houses, trees and the like.
But I still get irritated that I haven't gotten a villager's picture yet
