I swear, whenever a villager moves out and the plot is open the next day, it will ALWAYS be sold the day after. It can apparently take several days for someone to buy the plot, but every single time, I've had it happen the very next day. I always wind up spending all my NMs on NMTs to island hunt for my dreamies, never find one, and then someone random has already plopped themselves down in the spot the next day, ruining any further chances of getting a dreamie to move in there.

Does anybody else always have their empty plots bought up by a random villager the very next day after they've been opened? It stinks. :(

I've heard that if you're an active online trader, you'll have a line of villagers on your void from those islands you visited (or visited you), and because of that the plot will fill pretty much always be filled the next day with a villager coming from one of them. I learned this the hard way! I left it open once and got Lucky the next day. Cute but the house is too creepy for me. Now I always fill it the same day

I always have people move in the day after I have a new plot. It's incredibly annoying tbh. Before I moved to campsite cycling for my primary method of getting villagers I would only let someone leave if I knew I had a large amount of NMT's saved up so I could just spam them all the day someone left.

From trading and visiting friends, this also happens to me. I always have to find a villager the same day the plot is open! It's slightly annoying, but it gives me a reason to play more 😅

That's a good idea; I gotta stockpile NMTs before I let anyone move out! (If I had done that yesterday, I wouldn't have Klaus taking up my previously empty plot today...)

Wait a plot can remain open for days? Mine is ALWAYS filled the day after, I only have 1 day to go island hopping. Even when I wasn't doing alot of online trading, or any at all, my plot always filled the day after.

Apparently it can; up to 3 days, from what I've heard. I have NEVER had one not filled the day after.

I time travel a lot so whenever a plot opens, i always remember the date. So whenever I dont find my dreamies within the day, i can always TT back to said date. I've done that recently with Genji; it took me probably 48 hours IRL to find someone who I could adopt Genji from.

I'm definitely not taking the risk of waiting the next day to see if the plot has been taken. New Leaf has scarred me too much LOL

I wish I could bring myself to TT. That sounds like a useful strategy!

I just saw another thread someone saying they have an open plot for 10 days 👀 and someone else commented the most they had to wait was 9 days. Even if you're not doing trades in that exact same period the plot opens, all the villagers from the islands you visited before, and visited you, are already lined up in your void

The 1st month of my gameplay I didn't have nintendo online and the plots took some days to fill. I was shocked when a couple months later I left a plot open and it filled the next day

I used to, but now I just go to islands before any random (or at this point, voided) villager jas a chance to move in. I take pretty much anyone to unlock posters so it never takes a lot of tickets either.

I had pretty good luck. Before I got the online subscription, Diana moved in. I had to let random move in because Amelia was in my queue so I couldn't use her amiibo card (they fixed this issue BTW in 1.4). First one out of the queue was Raymond and the second was Amelia both of them where from other people's island.

But I'm not going to chance random any more so I have a stock of nmt to look for someone decent

Whenever I have a plot free, I will try my best to find as quick as possible a villager I like to fill the open spot, as I don't wanna deal with a random move-in honestly. I mean, sure, there's a chance to may get an random villager who isn't so bad, but since I mostly ended with those which I don't like at all and having trouble to get rid off of them afterwards, I rather gonna go find someone I like before the plot gets taken away.

I was an idiot and put down an empty plot instead of Erik’s moving plot last night so I got a voided villager. I got EXTREMELY lucky and got Apollo (who fits into my theming) but I don’t wanna chance it. (I’m still kicking that bird out eventually tho)

The only time I’ve let it auto fill I got my 1st move out from my friend’s void who had adopted her and she hadn’t lived on either island for months. Next time I’ll actually try harder. I only spent 10 nmt last time because I was exhausted.

I'm overly cautious, so no. But I always make DANG sure to get a villager the day after someone leaves. Either I find them via NMT (like Shep! Still super happy to have him ☺) or, if I'm running low on NMTs, I sometimes grab them off here- like Sherb!

I hoard all my Nook Miles until someone moves out and I have a spot to fill. I almost never use NMTs unless I'm trying to fill a spot.

I'll even TT if I have to. For instance, if I'm villager hunting late at night, and I need to go to bed, I ALWAYS TT to make sure it remains on the same in-game day. That way, I don't risk someone moving in (though I double-check before I go to bed). This has always worked for me so far... but I did try it once to KEEP a villager from moving and it didn't work for some reason.

me! earlier on in the game it was so stressful because i honestly had no idea what the heck i was doing so my plots would get filled up quickly. everything turned out okay though bc i got my hands on amiibo cards and was able to find non-amiibo dreamies in the end :)
