Anyone else hate when villagers share catchphrases?

this bothers me too, i'll teach a villager i don't care about a catchphrase and within a day pretty much all my villagers will use it and this has happened so many times

If I could keep my villagers 100% original I would! (with some exceptions to ugly houses) I hate it when villagers wear custom clothing, change catchphrase, put ugly bugs and fish in their houses etc!

Yes, yesterday suddenly three or four villagers ran to me calling me Iron B...
Thanks, Hamlet.

Edit; wait, that's not really a catchphrase but I'll leave it there..

That isn't a catchphrase that's a nickname

Yes! Somehow everyone caught Kiki's "meow" catchphrase. And it's so weird to see a duck or a sheep say meow.

i really dislike it too, all of my villagers usually share the same 2-3 catchphrases :( i want them to keep their original catchphrases, raymond has been using apple's "cheekers" catchphrase for ages now!

i haven't given my villagers a single bug or fish yet either to try and keep their homes looking nice, and i get sad when i give another villagers gift to someone, they open it, wear the clothes that was inside and it turns out to be weird, skye has been wearing a pineapple dress and apple has been wearing a hot dog costume!

I gave plucky Eggcelent and now Shep is saying it and that's weird, I will have to complain to Isabelle later

so far I haven't encountered this problem, but i really hope i don't lol. having half of my villagers calling me "champ" is enough as it is lol

I gave the catchphrase "nosey" to an anteater lol. next thing you know a sheep villager and a monkey villager are using it :( yes its very annoying

Yeah I also dislike this. I think most catchphrases are made "specially for that villager", like Goldie saying woof since she is a dog, and it's weird to see a cow saying woof 😂 . Or another example related to personality, Agnes saying dude kind of suits her since she's kind of a rocker, but then Whitney saying dude is weird for me at least, since she looks more like a gentle princess lol

SAME omg I hate it ! Not only for the catchphrases but the nicknames too ! Nicknames are special to me irl, they're created by/with a friend depending on what you've lived and shared together. So having my whole island calling me the same really upsets me. I feel like I have a special bond with each character but apparently they don't feel the same.

i don’t necessarily hate it but i’m not super fond of it aha

I gave Celia "fly like a me" because eagle wouldn't fit but she is an eagle and then Snooty started saying. Then I gave Hamlet "brah" and now Snooty is saying *that*. Snooty what are you doing.

Then I gave Celia a new catchphrase, "peep peep." I was a little said when Cousteau and Celia were talking and he picked up peep peep because I liked hearing him say "oui oui" but there are frogs that peep and it's a cute one that doesn't make me go WHY ARE YOU SAYING BRAH SNOOTY YOU AREN'T A BRO.

So sometimes it makes me laugh and sometimes is perplexing and sometimes drives me crazy.

I don't hate it but I try to keep them with their original catchphrase. Whenever they ask me for a new one I just tell them I like the one they have.

Yes, they've all started tripping over each other to adopt each others' catchphrases. It drives me up the wall.

I'd change Amelia's but the one time I changed beaus from saltlick to salty everyone said it and coco not saying doyoing is cursed

I thought you had to approve villagers giving you a nickname/picking one up. I am trying to get rid of Axel and he pinged so I talked to him and he wanted to call me kiddo and I said no (and then he was really sad and I felt bad but Axel you *have* to go I have three jocks and no lazies or smugs). I did let literally everyone else call me kiddo when they asked. (Leave, Axel, with your creepy, creepy grin.)
