Okay, a lot of us think that Nintendo's deafening silence in terms of marketing or any real details is unnerving. For a long time, ever since the first announcement, I didn't really care because I knew that Nintendo, no matter how stupid it is in terms of online components and pricing, really does make the best games all around. As an in-house project, the new AC was in the safest of hands.

That being said, I don't remember ever seeing a game being this disregarded. The new AC is the biggest title of the first part of 2020 and yet all we've seen is a limited edition Switch. No real marketing (people outside of fandom don't even know it's coming), no Directs or details is not only strange, it's frightening. For the first time I am starting to think that there's something bad they aren't telling us. Nintendo usually loves barraging us with marketing - remember Smash or Pokemon? But this is... not good. I can't actually explain. Maybe we the fans don't need marketing, but millions of other people do! After all, wasn't PC supposed to help franchise find its new audience? What's the point if the new audience doesn't even know that the real deal is coming soon?

Anyone else fears the worst or am I being paranoiac?

I am not nervous or worried at all.
I am completely confident that the game will meet and exceed all of my expectations!
Of course I'd love to see new footage and information, but I don't need it to feel good about the game. It would just be the cherry on the top to have something to look at while waiting.

Maybe this could help you feel better about everything:

i’m a bit nervous - the prospect of pretty much going into the game blind has me a little on edge since i have no clue what to expect lol - but i’m still very excited, too.

I'm have an uneasy feeling.

I guess we will have to wait until it releases, and see what we can see, unless they give us a direct.

Kinda feels like getting blood out of a stone though.

Yeah, that's what I am feeling as well. I am too optimistic, but just why won't you boast a little? It reminds me of Pokemon when they overboasted a lot, and the game turned out to be not so good. But marketing still paid up.

Yeah, I am. But even if the game doesn’t meet everyone’s expectations, I’m pretty sure I’ll love it regardless seeing as we’ve been without a mainline console game for so long.

With the introduction of Nook Miles it means that there will hopefully be a lot more to do in general. I can see them constantly updating them for years to come. Plus, it’s always good playing for that one full year. So, I’d say money well spent. :)

I don't have a bad feeling at all xD I don't think Nintendo would release a game and know it will only get negative reviews. They cancelled metroid prime 4 because they weren't satisfied with the product. Also people outside the fandom are aware of the game. My sister knew about it for example. If you are unsure don't preorder the game and wait for reviews. I am certain they will follow the normal animal crossing formula along with new features :)

Advertisment doesn't make a good game. Pokemon for example. Directs, a lot of advertisment and the game was midium good at best.

Tbh I’m not that nervous, just waiting at this point. I’ve already decided to play the game kind of blind anyways so I’m excited about that (trying to look on the bright side of not knowing much). Looking back at the old ACNL trailer, there was even less shown in there than what I expect from trailers now and I was perfectly fine with it back then. That said, I also didn’t know much about the franchise other than what I knew from when I played Wild World briefly, and even then I wasn’t actively part of a community and cursed with knowledge. Now that I know so much about the franchise from being a fan for so many years, I do get curious... but I’m still ok and happy with whatever the ACNH trailer showcased.

I opened up this thread to try to say why I think we should've worry, and Winona had put up my video. :p

Fingers crossed for a Direct announcement in a couple of hours!

your video actually soothed some of my fears a bit, thank you!

I won't claim to be an expert on the topic, but I'm glad that it's making people feel better when there's so many worries in the community T.T

I am mostly excited and hopefu, don't get me wrongl! ^_^

But yes. I do have my concerns. ;-;

Will we be able to adopt villagers?
Is the time traveling rumor true, or a mistranslation? (I don't plan to time travel, but people who run item/villager shops do, and things will move at a snail's pace of this is true)
Will holidays get removed?

Thankfully, we are supposed to get a direct on the 20th. Hopefully some of our concerns will be addressed there.

I wasn't worried at all, but your video still helped me feel a lot more confident and excited for that game! Thanks for the awesome work on it! :)

Have they not given us enough? We are 4 weeks away. Let's be patient and experience the game for ourselves.

your video actually changed my perspective a lot; i think i've been wanting information for the sake of having more information, but i'm actually satisfied with what i know and would buy the game regardless. i bought new leaf completely blind, having never heard of the series and knowing nothing more than the synopsis on the back of the game case, and have enjoyed it for years, so i don't doubt i'll also enjoy new horizons. even if there's not a dedicated direct, i'm sure a segment in a general direct will do.

I think it's a good thing that Nintendo doesn't feel the need to convince us to buy the game. They're confident that they did a good job and they feel like they showed enough improvements without spoiling too much for this day-by-day game. Maybe they'll still show us more information, or maybe they're hiding information that would make people cancel their preorder, but I don't think they'd do anything without good reason.

Nope, not worried at all. I have the game preloaded. I'm ready.

The game is not exactly free. I feel they have to at least describe in detail what people we be getting for their 60 dollars.
