Anyone else feel Isabelle is pointless?

I love Isabelle SO much and I hadn't even noticed this but ugh, you're right... I don't understand why she doesn't announce Saharah and Guillver or most other visitors anymore, it feels really weird that she doesn't. I would genuinely think it to be very strange if they didn't include her as she's definitely ended up becoming a series mascot now to the point of even being in Smash so they must have known the fanbase would complain if she was gone, and she's a huge moneymaker too. But she doesn't seem to do much and I wish there was more for her :(

True, but adding an option to straight up ask Isabelle to remove a villager is more than weird.

Well I completely agree that just a straight up option to ask Isabelle to literally kick someone off the island would be weird. Maybe when you complain about a villager, they feel bad about being there and think about moving sooner rather than happening organically later?

That's pretty much all I can think of. I just want people to leave!

Until I read your post I was about to disagree with you but actually you are completely right!

I find the announcements mostly useless and it hasn’t occurred to me that she doesn’t tell us when we have visitors to the island. I can’t understand why they would remove this when it existed NL.

I absolutely adore Isabelle and was so happy when she finally showed up but as of right now I wish she did more.

I am totally fine with Isabelle being in the game since I like her haha! But I also wish she commented on the weekly visitors too. Or tell us about the weather forecast or our luck thru the day.

I've had the campsite up for almost two weeks now, and haven't had a single camper since the first mandatory one. I don't have amiibo nor do I prefer to TT. The first villager who asked to move didn't ask until about 2 weeks into the game. There's nothing wrong with giving players more options.
I've only had one more camping villager. It seems like random villagers in the campsite are extremely rare.

While I don't obsess over her, I'm an Isabelle-lover. I kinda see what they were trying to do here: include Nook AND Isabelle, which I honestly like. She's like a sidekick to Nook instead of taking up the whole picture, and she's refreshing to see instead of just Nook by himself in the office (or vice versa). Like coffee and cream.

Plus I love her announcements in the mornings, they're refreshing and cute, in my opinion. Gets me in the groove of things.

So is she mechanically "useless"? Probably, yeah. But I think the point is involving more charm than giving just one person many jobs.

Again that's just me :)

I see her more as fulfilling the role of the mayor than anything else even though it is not explicitly stated. It is clear that Tom doesn't want that position, so he brought in somebody why has had experience in that spot.

I’ve never really cared for her. She kinda annoyed me in new leaf when she would always ruin my plans for my town by saying there’s no space for this project when there was clearly enough space.
If you take away her pwp role in the game, she pretty much does the same thing in new horizons as she did in new leaf.
She’s absolutely not needed but they probably didn’t want to “overwhelm” Tom Nook with too many functions.
I actually do miss Nook making the announcements...

In NL, her main role was PWPs which kept us coming back to talk to her and made her a central character to NL. She also hosted events as well which increased her visibility. Considering she was popular enough to make the Smash Bros roster, it's disappointing she doesn't have a bigger role in NH so far because most people aren't changing the town tune or flag every day, and reporting villagers is rarely used.

Well we do see her now everytime we load the game, or go collect miles from the ABD, or just use the ABD. And most of us had to ask the age old question "Town evaluations?" over a hundred times.

I definitely feel like they only included her because she's a favourite. I was thinking about it multiple times and I just didn't see a real purpose. But she's kinda encouraging sometimes about the week start/end. 🤷

They 100% only put her in the game to avoid backlash from fans. I feel like she's one of those characters you either love or don't really care for, but if she was left out there would have been an uproar from her fans. Personally I've never been a big Isabelle fan. She's cute but she kind of annoyed me in NL and I've only talked to her maybe two or three times so far in NH. I think putting her in this role was a good compromise. If you don't like her it's not necessary to talk to her very often but if you do like her she's still there and you can interact with her more frequently.

I do think she's less useful than she was even in NL. In NL you would go talk to her whenever you wanted to do anything with PWPs or ordinances. She'd also give out things during holidays. Not sure if she'll have any holiday involvement this time or not. I've only talked to her a few times in NH.

But what about the actual intent of the "complain about a villager" feature, where people can reset catchphrases and clothing?

Isabelle has always been useless. Her entire job in NL was to limit creativity as much as possible.

This is Morgana from Persona 5 all over again.

Isabelle is telling you, instead of a disembodied voice saying its too close to a cliff, so you blame the messenger. Now the aether says that its too close to a cliff, and its fine?

Story wise, it's odd how all of the NPCs abandoned the town they were at and it's especially sad that Isabelle abandoned the mayor to go live on an island with everybody else. I know AC doesn't care about story stuff, but it's still a little depressing to think about.
Interestingly enough, after befriending Sable, today I had her mention leaving her old town:
basically she says it was her parents’ old shop, and while they were sad to leave it behind, after all their friends decided to leave they were interested in a fresh start, too.
I’m curious to see if we might get more episodic content akin to Wild World at some point down the road? After befriending her she and Mable have quite a bit of dialogue, which is nice because that was usually the point it’d drop off in earlier games.
