Anyone else completely overwhelmed?

I'm not into matchy-matchy flower gardens, so at first I was like "Okay, no problem with all the flowers here," but a month later, my river banks are completely covered in cosmos. COMPLETELY.

OH MY GOD YES
Flowers everywhere! I made a whole area, a HUGE are with just roses in it and within a week every single spare space was filled up with roses that the villagers had planted there! I wanted to use it to create hybrids!
Also people keep saying that Hybrids grow fast, well I have yet to see this.. I hardly get any and I suspect it is because the animals are filling up the spaces with their own flowers they are planting!

It does have its good points though.. The grass is growing back so much faster in the area that my Townies used to congregate and consequently had destroyed all living vegetation in that area, so a balance is achieved.

I was overwhelmed numerous times and I completely redid my flowers 3 times over the whole town. What finally worked for me is in my dream town. I did the X pattern in spots all over town. Villagers planted flowers with the beautiful ordinance off too so I turned it back on to try and get more hybrids. With the X pattern, it is easier to see which flowers need to be weeded out.

Katie - you don't get as many because you have mixed flower beds. The villagers plant like flowers by like flowers. So with the mixed beds, they don't know which one to plant.

Yeah, it gets pretty bad. I just had to do a massive cleanup recently because my town was getting overrun with flowers. On one hand, it's an easy source of flowers to decorate the more 'empty' areas of my town, on the other, flowers freaking everywhere.

Yup I got very overwhelmed, it actually made me lose some interest in playing for almost a week but then since 2 days ago I like forced myself to clean and organize everything up xD it's becoming more of a chore for me -_-

Yes, I'd organize my flowers and then my villagers would plant plant plant until it looked like they'd never been organized. The pansies were particularly bad, I felt like my town was being invaded by them.

At the moment, it's not a problem because I just started my town, and all of my flowers are on the beach so that villagers don't plant and mess up the checkerboard flower placement that I use for growing hybrids.

I built all my paths early on in the game so I don't really mind any extra flowers. I just sell them. If I see a villager planting a flower right in front of me I laugh and go, "Oh no you don't, ya silly" and pick it right up.

Flowers have taken over my time travelling town. .-. I want to give them to people who want them, since trampling them all seems kind of like a waste of flowers. Now to find people who want a couple hundred flowers...

Bad news - they do it on the beach too. I've caught Freya at it twice. :(

I don't have the Beautiful Town ordinance in play, but I do have a lot of flowers. It started with the obligatory rose garden that I've planted next to my house since CF, but suddenly a wild patch of pansies I let be turned into a gigantic field sitting in front of my station.

I'm in the middle of landscaping right now, and lemme tell you something. If you don't want to be even more overwhelmed, don't even look at bamboo. I chopped down all the trees on the north side of my town (except for those on a little peninsula where my campground is to give it a foresty feel) and replaced them with bamboo, and now there are new ones threatening to grow everywhere in the morning.

Putting down paths around gardens seems to help keep my flowers in check, though I constantly have to confiscate the flowers that my villagers plant.

I got overwhelmed with flowers too, but I managed to get them sorted. I started by picking up and selling all my yellow lilies and yellow cosmos (I already have at least 15 each of orange lilies and orange cosmos so I figured I didn't need them anymore). Then I went group by group (because I have my flowers organized by type) and lined my already-formed paths with a single row, and sold all the extras. It took a couple days, but I made quite a few bells from it. And now, because the flowers just line my paths in a single row, it's easy to see when a new one pops up or a villager plants one, and I just pick them up and sell them. And when I get a hybrid I replace one of the old flowers with it and sell the old flower. Eventually I want to have a mostly-all-hybrid town. :D

I got some bamboo from a villager and thought, "Neat, I'll go plant it somewhere!" Then forgot about it.

So. Much. Bamboo.

Oh man, I did a lot of time travelling last month and there were flowers EVERYWHERE ;-;
At first I was so excited since you can only buy to flowers from Leif each day or trek out to the island, but now I'm in way over my head! But running them all down is pretty fun :blush:

I can completely sympathise with this. In the end I had to remove most of the flowers and regroup them into some sort of colour scheme and whilst it looks better now, my villagers constantly plant flowers in the places I'm hoping to get some hybrids! I'm finding it really difficult to create them as I can't buy the fertilizer yet.

If you plant them in a cross pattern and water the ones you want to breed, it makes it easier!

Plant them like this;

x o x o x
o x o x o
x o x o x

Having lots of flowers are way better than having lots of weeds. Unless you're aiming for Weed Sniper badge. C:

I've had the beautiful ordinance since I started the game, pretty much. As soon as I was allowed to, I got that ordinance. I don't notice the amount of flowers, but it's mostly because I have like 3 huge flower gardens and I'm used to so many flowers.

I need all the flowers I can get because my town is plagued by huge mud patches. The flowers help cover them up and hopefully regrow the grass. By the way, grass deterioration is still awful in this game. I should be able to just play without fretting over my freaking footsteps. Least fun mechanic ever, Nintendo.
