Any tips on restoring villagers' original houses?

So I've begun trying to restore my villagers homes to make them "original." I've carried the items in case they ping me, I've put them up at Re-Tail in case they shop there, I mail them clothes and anything else they don't ping for, and I buy the stuff that doesn't belong in their homes. However, they keep putting furniture in the wrong places! Bluebear just won't replace her shirts that are on display and refuses to buy the gyroid she needs. Is there anything else I can do?

1) Keep ONLY the items you want them to put in their house in your inventory and fill the other spaces with bags of bells/tools/etc that they cannot buy.
2) Keep saving and quitting until they are in their house.
3) Enter their house and save and continue.
4) From here you just talk to them about 5-6 times until they ask for an item you have. If they don't exit the house and reenter and talk to them again for another 5-6 times. Repeat.
5) When they FINALLY ask for an item let them buy it then exit and reenter their house. If the item is in the right spot congrats! If it isn't, don't save and Soft Reset.
6) Repeat all the steps.

I KNOW this seems like a lot of work and it kind of is but it's the best way to influence their house to be exactly how you want. It also helps to go over to their house everytime they ask you to and buy something out of it you hate; they will fill in the spot with something you do want guaranteed the next time as long as it's the same size. Also items like large beds are easy to replace because of only one item in the room being that size they will replace that 1 item.
