I was just wondering if a random camper can 'interrupt' an Amiibo villager you're trying to invite to your island... ie. if I scan an Amiibo on day 1, is there still a chance a random can appear at the campsite on day 2, or does the game know what you're trying to do and avoid that situation?

Not that it's a huge concern, I think I've only had 2 random campsite villagers since March...also, is that just me or are campers as sparse for everyone now? Do you get more campers if you have a 5 star island?

Sorry, I'm full of questions lately...

Regular campers cannot appear if you scanned an amiibo the day before.

Thanks! I still do wonder how frequently you're supposed to get random campsite villagers though. For me, only having 2 since March, and only 1 bout of Amiibo scanning for a specific villager during that time, it seems worse than New Leaf.

According to the chart in the thread that I linked, it seems that it maxes out at 20% a day. So it's possible to go for a really long time without getting one without amiibo.

I believe the odds are purposely much lower than in New Leaf, because when New Leaf first came out, there were no amiibo, and the amiibo were never tied to the campsite (they were instead given a new area called the campground, which is confusing). In New Horizons, the campsite is the main way for scanning amiibo. It it's in Nintendo's interest to make people really want to get more amiibo to scan them for that, perhaps by purposely making campers rare. Maybe. No way to prove that's what they were thinking unless they admit it themselves.

....and yet they discourage TTing, but force you to have an Amiibo visit 3 days in a row lol
