Annoying rocks, what would you do?

I have a couple of hugely annoying rocks. One in particular is really spoiling a section of my town that I've developed and I can't see a good way to work round it.

Basically I have a garden area that features one of every flower, plant and tree in the game, set with stone paths and stairs. It's all quite symmetrical, the aim was to have a formal garden, which will have topiaries at the entrance points.

Then I wanted to edge the area with shrubs, but the damn rock is in the way.

P is path, S is shrub, R is rock and O is blank space.

P P P P P P P P
P P P P P P P P
S S O O O S S
O O O R O O O

It just looks awful. I could have one square width of path but that breaks the symmetry of the rest of the area and you can't really see the path behind the shrub. I could build a path round the rock and try and make a feature of it but that would stick out and look awful. It's really bothering me.

How have you worked round a bad rock placement?

Just work around or make it look as if it was meant to be there.
Or you could blend it in with flowers like I did here:

there's also a rock peeping on the bottom right side, I blended the rock with tulips.

I normally blend them in but this really doesn't work for this particular rock as it sits outside the garden area, and expanding to incorporate would make it too wide. Making the garden area smaller might be the best bet and reducing the external path to one square width, but then the shrubs hide the path totally.

I hate rocks!

How annoying...

Maybe if you expanded your paths so it wAs right in the middle and then you could walk round either side?

I did the same! So rocks in my town doesn't bother me very much =D I have like 6? and they work perfectly in my town even I never plan it out, they just blend in~

Yeah, I REALLY don't get why we can't destroy rocks in this game. We can demolish an entire windmill or lighthouse in one night, but we can't dig up a stupid rock?

It's one of those dumb design decisions that's there purely because they were in the original. That's it. As for my town I just try to ignore 'em but there are a few places where they're right up against my path and they screw up my flower/shrub patterns. Nothing I can do about it now, though.

I pretend they're a tree or bush or whatever if they're in a flower bed. At least what you've got so far looks symmetrical?

What I did with my rocks was try to incorporate them into my layout harmoniously. Like putting a few mushrooms and flowers by the rock to make it look like a natural area. Since what you're trying to achieve is a structured formal garden maybe you could do something like placing a ring of flowers around it? Work with the rock instead of against it. ^^

He literally just said a few posts back that he tried that and it didn't work. :/

To be honest, since the rock is more or less centered, why not just leave it? It looks intentional from your map in the OP. Your only other option is to just move the entire thing to another area of your town.

I remember a post from a while back where someone was able to delete a rock by starting a new character and building tgeir house near a rock. When Nook showed what it would look like the rock was gone- house was built and the rock stayed gone! Not sure if the person went a step further to then save then delete the character to see if the rock returned- but that is something you could play around with.

That sounds weird because I remember Nook not letting me build near a rock...
Hmm, maybe the rock that person was able to build near was actually a fake rock?

I have rocks in the worst places that i planned on doing something with the area ;; so I took this rock by my water fall placed a stump on both sides now it looks kinda like those little tables you'd have to put drinks down and it looks OK

I hate rocks. Luckily there's no rocks in the villager part of my town (the part that would be ruined if it had rocks).

I have a rock in an annoying place in my farm town.I ended up placing a cute picnic blanket (found the pattern online)and a few flowers near it.Makes it look like it belongs there now.

ah man I feel you. I've got way too many rocks in my town (the one thing that I forgot to check when choosing my map in the beginning) For some reason they are always in my way when I plan out the PWP placements?ugh

Usually I put flowers around, if not, then put paths/water patterns around it. It usually turns out pretty nice but I'm still trying to figure out the best way to work with them myself too :/
