Anniversary photo shoot amiibo?

So!! When i open up editing during the anniversary shoot, the amiibo icon is greyed out and hovering my card over does nothing. So i’m like, fine its probably just not available for this mode. But then I find this picture:

what going on Why can’t i invite my amiibo characters to reese and cyrus’ photo shoot?

i read somewhere that you can invite villagers on the 6th or 7th day so maybe that’s why?
