I've received no villager pictures. Even Katie won't give me her photo and she's passed through my village four times so far. How many gifts does she send in the mail? I may have received nearly everything but her photo.

I'm starting to get a complex about this. What more can they possibly want? I give them nice furniture; I get their petitions signed; I give them expensive bugs and fish; I keep my appointments with them; I buy everything from them even when I know they're ripping me off; I always agree to trade with them even though I couldn't care less about their polka dot closets or lazy susan tables. I even give them perfect foreign fruit and send mail every day--with presents! There is nothing more I can do, but instead of pictures they give me porta-potties.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but try giving them exclusive, not ordeable furniture, like fortune cookie stuff when they ask for furniture. It worked for me at least!

I've given them fortune cookie stuff too (Teddy now displays the Master Sword I sent to him right in the middle of his room, and Wendy has a block wedged in a corner of her room)--still no pictures. So frustrating.

if they dont give you your pic reset, and give the item again
took 3 resets for Mitzi to give me hers

And save after they ask, right? I'll definitely do this! Nothing's wrong with a few resets! I mean, they wouldn't let you if you couldn't XD

I reset about ten times after I had a completed petition for Ricky. I gave up after about a half-hour or so--he's playing hard to get.

I'll try resetting after giving the next perfect foreign fruit or golden stag and not receiving a photo.

I got Drift's a couple days ago after giving him a gift someone wanted to give him. My third one.

I empathize with your frustration, Cranky Squirrel! I was feeling the same, especially since collecting photos was my favorite part of Wild World. Having my villagers' photos is like having a record of who's been through my town. Being able to see everyone I've made friends with was really satisfying. I was getting fed up with this game because after over a month of obsessive "pro listening" I hadn't managed a single photo.

Then in a thread a couple of days ago, Gizmodo broke down their method on getting portraits through strategic resetting and it's honestly saved me from quitting.

I can add a few more tips now that I've tried some things out:

Giving medicine to a villager for all three days that they're sick can net you their portrait. I was surprised when I got Frita's this way. I think if I had saved right before talking to her for the first time on the fourth day day (when she was healthy again) I might have been able to try resetting until I got it?

I also got a portrait when a villager asked for the town fruit and I instead give them a perfect town fruit. So it doesn't just have to be foreign perfect fruit.

I haven't managed to get a portrait from a furniture request. I've been having trouble finding rare items that I'm willing to give up AND can be customized. I've only tried reorderable customized furniture in a style that matches the villager's home so far but with no luck. After 30+ minutes of resets, I tend to admit defeat.

I've started keeping a stash of sharks for ocean fish requests, golden stags for stag beetle requests, and horned hercules for horned beetle requests. I can confirm the shark and the hercules as portrait getters. I've had miserable luck on river fish so I don't know what to do there yet.

If a villager feels like giving me a request, they will usually do it within the first couple times I talk with them. If they don't and I keep bugging them, they can get annoyed. Katrina seems to shun my town but when I eventually get her shop built, I plan on paying attention to how easily I get requests if she says I'll have a good friend luck or good love luck (same sex and opposite sex relations respectively).

I hope these tips help someone or at least give hope! Special thanks to Gizmodo for indirectly encouraging me. ^^

@Ranchy, I'm pretty sure fulfilling Flora's request of a giant stag is the best way to go. She probably won't accept a golden stag for this request.

Just in case you're not sure where to get one, they appear on normal trees between 11 pm and 8 am and are a sort of purplish black color. I keep one fruit tree on my island for rainbow stags and sometimes I see a giant stag appear there too. Usually my sign that I've stayed up too late farming beetles AGAIN...

It worked! It worked! This afternoon Ricky asked for any horned beetle. I went beetle harvesting on the island tonight and saved before giving Ricky a horned hercules. It took four attempts, but I finally ended up with his picture. Yippee, I finally got my first one.

Flurry's currently at home sick, I gave her medicine the past two days. I'll see if I get her pic after giving her the third dosage tomorrow.

No problem, it may be deemed as cheating by some people, but who cares im not letting any leave until i get their pictures, so its very important i know how to ^^
