The update is mainly focused on Amiibo, but there should be other features as well. We'll know more on them in a few hours.

While we don't know everything about the update yet, we do know that amiibo cards will allow you to bring that villager into your town. It also seems like we will be getting a new area where villagers camp out with their RVs. I'm hoping that the new content will be introduced to your town even without the amiibo cards in the same way that villagers already move in and bring furniture when there is a free spot. I know not everyone collects amiibo cards. Having collected the full set so far, it can be a costly and time consuming process, but I have had a lot of fun trading to complete my collection. I would recommend going out and buying a pack or two, and hopping onto the Amiibo Post Office board to trade those cards away for some of your dreamies (or other villagers you are interested in). There are a lot of amazing, kind, and reputable traders right on this site. Also keep an eye out for amiibo giveaways. Ultimately we will know a lot more tomorrow and the coming weeks after people get to play on the update, so you will be able to decide if investing in amiibo cards is something you would like to pursue.
