Amiibos or Chance?

I've actually been thinking about this and wondering if I should even bother buying the amiibo cards... I think it's much more satisfying when finding them on the tours. Amiibo cards are satisfying too but finding them by pure chance out of hundreds... Dosent beat it!
And also with amiibo cards you have to prepare the whole thing by waiting/kicking someone to move and I personally don't like that :( When you're on a tour though you're probably already looking for someone to move in!
I still want to buy amiibo cards though because it'll be my first time! (That is if I can get my hands on them :o)

i imagine that i’ll be using amiibos pretty frequently over the next few months since i’ve preordered 6 packs of series 5, but i definitely prefer island hopping. it can be frustrating at times, but it’s one of my favourite things to do in this game, and i like not knowing who i’ll run into or who my new neighbour will be — it’s way more exciting to me than scanning a card is aha.

I leave it up to chance. Whilst I do have favourites that I keep my fingers crossed for, I really enjoy finding "new" villagers I'd have never picked otherwise. Plus I like to pretend I have no control over who wants to come to my island, rather than me hand selecting people :)

When ACNH fist dropped I had my lineup set with my amiibos. However, I decided to do the mystery tour blindly and found Raymond. I really liked the surprise factor when you get off the plane and run to see who is by the fire. I’ve had really good luck finding the new villagers (I have two Sherbs) and found other favs that I had in past towns in NL. On the contrast, regarding campers, I don’t seem to have the best RNG on that front.

When a villager wants to leave, my first instinct is to go villager hunting. My limit is 10 tickets (my island tours are very long, as I take advantage of procuring all the resources while I am there). It’s a lengthy process. When the 10 tickets are up and there are no villagers I want to cycle on my other islands, I will end up inviting a villager via amiibo.

When 2.0 drops, I am not sure I will get my amiibos delivered by Best Buy as promised on the 5th, so I will do some island hunting in the interim and see what happens!

Amiibos can be expensive, and I have 300k+ nook miles, so I plan to leave it up to chance. I do have a couple of my favorite villagers' amiibos back from New Leaf, but I won't be buying the new villager series.

Plus, I think it's quite fun to go villager hunting! Of course, I have pretty good luck, so I haven't gotten frustrated yet. I've found 8/10 dreamies so far, usually within 5 NMT. Blanche is the only one who took more (16 NMT).

I like using NMTs but only if there's a few villagers I'm looking for or if I'm just seeing who'll interest me. There's so many villagers that I'd pass up judging them just from a photo but seeing them in game can change that with their animations. I never would have chosen Croque if I didn't meet him randomly but now he's one of my favorites.

If it's a certain villager I want then I'll use an amiibo.

Chance for Shino/Ione since even though I might be able to get 5 packs of series 5/possibly 20 packs of 1-4 LOL because my boyfriend insists I may have to have fun with surprises on island hopping. It'll take quite a while to get here anyways haha. I love island hopping for dreamies so i'm looking forward  💗

I have amiibos of (most) of my favorites because I’m too impatient to use nmt. But using the nmt, I’ve foundvillagers I really liked

I like a bit of both! I got Bertha on a mystery island, who ended up being my favourite in new horizons. I would never have considered her, but just couldn't leave her on the mystery island, she was too cute!

I also do like having amiibos, mostly so I know that if I regret letting anyone leave, I can always bring them back
