I have some third party amiibos. They work exactly the same as the regular ones. The quality and price depends on the seller, so make sure you read the reviews! Some sellers include fun extras like glitter, if you’re a fan of that. c:
My S/O and I have gotten third-party Amiibos (both fanmade cards and NFC tag cards). The NFC reader on a console/controller cannot tell the difference between fanmade versus third-party ones. The quality, appearance, and price depends on the seller, so take some time to look through reviews. A nice bonus of getting third-party Amiibos is you get to choose exactly which villagers you want, so what you order is what you get.
I have both legit and third party, third party has not given me any issues at all. I ordered third party amiibo cards for NL/NH and each card features a cute drawing that they themselves made, of each villager. Plus where I got them was a HECK of alot cheaper than buying mystery packs and I can buy what villager I want. I usually don't like to drift to third party things if I can buy a Nintendo verified thing, but when Nintendo makes it damn near impossible to get not only cards but also figures, you start to look for alternatives
At one point I was going to do the whole amiibo thing myself, but my laptop doesn't have a software needed to do it and I don't exactly know how to get that software.
I've only used the authentic ones. The hacked versions are in breach of Nintendo's terms of service, and whoever is making and selling them is technically stealing.
Make them and use them for yourself, no biggie (at least until the re-release hits shelves, if they haven't already). Produce and sell them, that's against the law.
My collection is a mixture of authentic and third party, though the majority are third party. Never actually bought a card pack though, only ever acquired even the authentic ones secondhand through eBay and the like. The random factor of card collection, whether amiibo or trading card game cards, has never appealed to me. As such, I've only ever sought out the specific amiibo I wanted. Thus far no complaints about the third party, they've seemed to work fine.
Got a mix of authentic and bootleg. I bought the nfc215 tags myself and was able to use an old android phone to make them myself. It's very easy and I've never had any problems with the tags or the games.
ETA: I'm hoping the cards get rereleased outside the US as I'd like to at least finish series 2. I have the album for that one and right now it looks very sad and empty
I'd love to have all the authentic ones printed by Nintendo, but realistically (and monetarily) it wasn't possible for me. I have some third-party ones from Etsy that work perfectly! I actually sort of prefer the amiibo coins over the cards since they're easier to store.❤
Nintendo doesn't sell Amiibo cards here in my country for Animal Crossing. So I opted to go with the third-party ones. So far, it's working perfectly fine and I didn't experience any issues. If you are after collectibility, it's worth going for the official goods obviously to support the brand.
Honestly, I am only after getting all dream villagers in my island. (One of my friend gifted me Felicity before. That's how I started off.)
I have 11 third party cards from etsy of my favourite villagers
I have 1 real pack, 3 real figures, the ACHHD 3ds, two copies of new leaf, a regular switch, a physical copy of NH and an ACNH switch with dowloadable copy, plus every other game in the series except amiibo festival...
...I kinda feel like Nintendo has enough of my money surrounding animal crossing, so I don't feel guilty about my fake cards at all lol
