Just my favorite villagers and then some of the special characters so I could build their houses in HHD. Oh, I did get a few Welcome Amibo ones just for furniture. All from eBay. And I bought a little W Link from Best Buy, one of those Zelda figures.
I have all the cards and figures. Started collecting when Happy Home Designer was released. This board was very helpful with trading cards to complete Series 1 to 4. For Welcome Amiibo Nintendo NA finally got it right. Buy a box and you complete the whole collection. For Series 1 to 4 Japan and UK they were able to buy a full box and complete their collection. Not sure why NA didn't have that.
I did buy a few cards off Ebay because I didn't want to wait to complete my collection. At the time the price was low for a card. For the Sanrio cards I bought mine from GAME in the UK. It took more than a month to arrive but was worth the wait.
My favorite cards are the ones I have in my towns. So far I haven't lost a villager but happy I have the cards if a villager skips town. Miss Lolly would be one of my favorite cards.
Most of my cards are stored away. Just kept the figures, Sanrio and WA cards in a deck box. Wished I could buy DLC cards thru the Eshop and pick a name from the list.
I like the special ones because they are sparkly >w<
I've just started to collect them , I bought a series 4 pack off Ebay and got Brewster, Gayle and Apple. I also have Timmy but I lost him ;-;
I have all the cards, including Sanrio and Amiibo Festival sets. My favorites are definitely Hopkins, Boots, Lucky and Rilla. I started collecting during the HHD early days, so it was definitely easier. I got full JP boosters of series 2, 3 and WA outright, for cheap. I was lucky enough to find full Sanrio for a great price when it was available, and I bought, sold, and traded my way to completing series 1, 4 and Amiibo Festival sets. I found all the figurines for a great price at a discount store, and got some great quality custom cards of the Zelda, Monster Hunter and Splatoon characters from Etsy to round it off. Ended up finishing my AC amiibo collection sometime last year.
Got ‘em all, but never would have finished without the trading community right here. Actually, I am missing one amiibo, but, as far as I know, nothing is locked behind the other Isabelle figure. I have two of one, but missing the other....can’t ever remember if it is summer or winter that I need, though...
I have the 400 amiibo cards of regular villagers and the special ones who hold town positions (like secretary Isabelle). I have amiibo figures Isabelle along with Digby, Resetti, Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy, Reese and Cyrus, Blathers and Celeste, as well as Lottie, Kapp’n, K.K., Mabel, and Kicks. (It’s too bad there weren’t amiibo figures for Phineas, Brewster, and Gracie.)

I also have the six Sanrio cards.
I have the pictures on display in the four houses of my museum-themed town ACNLpics.
I don't think I ever managed to pick up volume four. Nintendo pulled them way too fast, which is a shame, because they're so useful and fun to collect.
I'm hoping the amiibo cards and figures do something in a future AC game for Switch. I'm happy with the new leaf integration, but it would be nice if they go further with them.
I didn't have very many chances to actually go shopping for the cards, so I only got one series 1 pack, one series 2 pack, one series 3 pack, a card that came with Happy Home Designer, a card that came with my second copy of New Leaf, and the three cards that come with Amiibo Festival. (It got super cheap at Gamestop since many people didn't like it)
Because I had been on a long New Leaf hiatus, I didn't start looking for the figures until after getting my second copy. I currently have Isabelle, Digby, Lottie, Mabel and Timmy & Tommy.
These all came from local stores since I'm not into online shopping. (I want to be, but I think I need a job first.) Interestingly, the series 1 pack was a Christmas gift during a time where I expected only the later series cards to still be available. I have no idea where it was found.
