Would anyone know what happens when you have a specific character already living in your town, then scan their card for the 5 coupons and random item?

Would anyone know what happens when you have a specific character already living in your town, then scan their card for the 5 coupons and random item?

You can still scan them and get the item.
There's just no 'Move Here' option.
