Question for Britain: any bitter feelings about the Revolutionary War still?

Since we kicked your ass and all.

If you're talking about WW2, some people are over it, but some think the Americans are taking all the credit and shouldn't be making crappy movies about it.

I'm from the UK but I can answer them

Revolutionary War was when the USA gained independence from Britain( I think) so not WW2.

1.They have a president instead.
2. I don't know
3. Most of them do.
4.Football should never be called soccer , Rugby and American Football are completely different sports.
5. French Fries are called French Fries in England too as well as chips.

1) That's against the whole core thing of how we didn't want a king an so we rebelled.
2) Because Britain was getting their asses handed to them by Germany's Luftwaffe when we came in. Or so I've heard. But after that, yeah it wasn't all us.

4) First part, because... I don't know. And rugby ≠ American football.
5) Because it sounds better. Or because I have no idea.

1. The entire premise of American government, and the whole reason we rebelled was because we hated monarchies.
2. That depends on how you look at it. America basically defeated Japan single handedly, with a little bit of help from the USSR. As for the war in Europe, like Jack said, all the European nations we're getting their asses handed to them on a silver platter before we came in. But yeah, after the turning point in the war it was a joint American, UK, Canadian, French Resistance, and Russian offensive, to name a few.
3. Yes, unfortunately.
4. The word 'soccer' came from 'assoc' which came from 'association' which in turn came from 'football association'. In America, colleges started football teams. Some claimed you could use your hands, others said you couldn't. It basically split from there. And Rugby and football are two completely different sports.
5. I don't know the historical reason.
