Am I the only one who never bothers with turnips?

I don't bother with them much, they stress me out. I have other money making methods.

I have a simple strategy sell them on which ever day offers a profit first no matter how much. If it’s very little that’s fine no harm done if nothing comes before Saturday I’d say that’s unlikely but it happens. I managed to get 360k worth at 91 a piece today and I have high hopes I’ll be able to pay off the fourth extension with it and there’s a satisfaction to that fact.

I’ve never really bought them, but that’s usually because I always either forget I have them and TT back a day to order more mail, or I just straight up forget about them until they rot naturally.
Maybe if I see them being sold for cheap on my island and I have a ton of bells I’ll buy some and try my luck.. as long as there aren’t any entrance fees that are too crazy

In my opinion, using the online stalk market is game breaking. It literally no different from duping. You cannot lose at turnip therefore its not even a gamble. The fact you can buy on Sunday and sell your turnip the same day on someone elses island who time travel speak for itself. You can go from having no money in pocket to millions, money that you didn't earn. It okay to lose bells hence why its a gamble. I lost a lot of bells on turnips but I gave it my all. That sense of pride seem lost nowadays.

I see people all the time panicking because they couldn't get a profit on their island. I mean the turnip market is not suppose to be a guarantee profit. You are suppose to lose money, that the whole point of risk versus reward. If it was guarantee, Nintendo would make sure decreasing pattern did not exist. It shouldn't even be call the stalk market because you will never lose if you go online. Should be call quick and easy money market.

I don't bother, I'm unavaiable for half the price changes and there's a possibility that you won't be able to profit during a week, so naah.

Full of spicy takes today, aren't we? If it was so "game-breaking" as you claim, Nintendo wouldn't allow you to buy and sell turnips on other people's islands, comparing it to duping is downright insane. Also, where exactly do you draw the line on "money you didn't earn"? You don't really "earn" the money even if you sell turnips on your own island because it's just buying and selling.

Its buying and selling with a chance for a loss. You win some and you lose some. There are four total patterns, two of them net you a profit and the other two can net you a loss, which is 50/50. Its a good way to balance out your money making every decision matter.

If you are selling at other people island, then its 100% high profit vs 50% low profits. You are not making bells on your own, you are relying on other and you will never lose.

If you get a high price on your island, then your risk pay off, if you get a low price, then your risk didn't. But you are taking those risk with your own bells. That the different between "buying and selling" on your own versus using the online stalk market.

Its okay if you don't have enough money to move houses, build bridges etc... Perhaps spend less on clothes shopping, wake up earlier to fish/catch bugs, lower your total consumption so that you can save enough to make the big purchase. Basic economic. You are not always suppose to have enough money to do everything. It meant to be a slow game.

I didn't play the stalk market until this game, but since I have time on my hands, I figured I'd try it. There are so many people playing that you can definitely unload your turnips at a good price - the issue is making it into an island (and not spending too much time in a line). No-fee islands can have queues of hundreds - I was in a couple like, 200 long. Fee islands can have shorter queues (though they can still have 100+ people waiting depending on the fee), but of course you worry about being scammed or whether the price is fair.

Since I have more time on the weekend, I usually sell Sundays, but I hear that if you wait until later in the week or trade in non-peak hours, you can usually go into islands pretty quickly. You can always keep your queue page open in another tab on your computer while you wait and do other stuff.

I only do one inventory a week so I'm making fewer profits than others, but it's been a great Bell-making endeavour for me so far!

I like the community aspect of trying to find prices online, and I play Animal Crossing as a form of relaxation, so I'd rather not play it by myself and lose money. It'd make the game way too stressful for me!

It's meant to be a game you can take at whatever pace you want actually, that's why time travelling and the online stalk market are part of it. However you choose to play doesn't make a difference to me as it shouldn't to anyone. The best animal crossing players are the ones getting the most enjoyment out of the game in any way they choose to do so. Also as someone mentioned, your math is very off, the chances of losing money every week just from using your island's prices is like 10-15% if you sell at the right time and don't get greedy.

it's a game with a key feature being connecting with others

nintendo 100% has the turnips stuff intentionally set up to be a community ordeal, with people buying and selling across towns. otherwise, they'd just make the turnips rot if they crossed towns at all

The first week, I didn't buy any turnips and this week, I went to bed so late and therefore woke up too late to buy lol. I have a handful of RL friends who play, if I didn't I'm not sure if I'd bother with waiting in queues to sell. I'm only on the 3rd (?) house upgrade so I definitely need the bells.

Honestly I had never bothered with turnips in ACNL mostly because I just went to the island and farmed beetles for bells. Now since the islands are really random in ACNH and the chances of getting bamboo or tarantula island are so low, I buy turnips. Usually I wait til I either have Daisy Mae or a good turnip price on my island, so it saves me a trip. Today I have Daisy on my island, so I plan on buying a bunch from her and going to visit other islands to sell them. As long as you don't TT backwards with turnips on your person or in your house/on your island, you are fine. TTing even a little bit backwards (like an hour) spoils them. You can make like 2mil a trip, so it's worth it to me. :)

What's a turnip?

Seriously: no. I might if I get up early on a Sunday and have spare money in the future, but it seems like so much work to go find someone else's island where I can turn a profit, and they can't be stored so they just sit in your house being tacky... I mean, why bother tbh. Money isn't hard to make.

I have no interest in them - they stress me out! I almost never remember to check turnip prices, I end up spoiling them by accident when I TT, I hate that they take up space in your house/outside on the ground, and I don't want to sell them on other people's islands because standing in line to wait is stressful, and my internet connection can be a little iffy.

I feel like this game's house loans are so small compared to past games due to lack of expansions that there's absolutely no need for me to try to make bells quickly. I'll probably have the whole thing paid off in another month or less just by making money fishing/bug hunting/selling fruit.

I never bothered with them back in NL, but I wanted to give it a try in NH.
I still don't know what I'm doing and I don't buy them often, but I'm happy that I'm participating in the stock market more than before.

I understand what you mean when you say it's stressful. I don't have the online membership so I'm basically on my own. >w<

I tried in NL and hated it, so I stopped after just a few weeks. Now in these days, where people who aren't me use discord and all that stuff, I won't even try again. No turnips, all tarantulas here! I might not have much money (still haven't made a dent into the basement loan), especially not since I can only play at night when the shop is closed and I have to pay the dropbox fee, but I'll be fine. Also no one can convince me to get up early on Sundays for Daisy Mae. All the times in this game when you can buy and sell are just bad for people who are only able to play at night.
