Am I the only one who hates the stalk market and doesn't like Mary Sue (or whatever the Joan replacement is called)?

I think the stalk market seems beyond stressful. Having to get up at a certain time every day and log in twice a day to check turnip prices, never being able to TT, finding a place to store them, waiting and waiting and waiting in a queue to sell them on someone else's island... It sounds like my idea of hell. I've never played the stalk market in any of the AC games I've played, and I have no desire to start now. I suppose eventually I might have to for the achievements, but I'll save that until after the hype dies down and fewer people are playing/clamoring to all sell.

I liked Joan, though. I don't get why they replaced her with Daisy Mae and her disgusting drippy nose. She would have been cute if not for the perpetual booger... But honestly, I wish we had more older NPCs and everyone didn't have to be super cute. I want more diversity!

I play the stalk market once every blue moon so I never have to worry about bells (either for in game or for trading), it's also a great way to get NMTs when you have a good turnip price by letting people in to sell theirs.

I like to spend most my time terraforming, beautifying my island and my villagers rather than catching bugs and fish for bells lol

personally i find people advertising their prices and charging absolutely stupid prices to just get in to be way greedier and more desperate than people looking to sell
This. I honestly don't get it. People almost always tip really well to begin with.

i think it's a fun optional "side quest". you can do it if you're interested but the game doesn't force it on you at all, in fact it's quite easy to miss it since daisy mae only comes for a few hours on sunday mornings. and i think daisy mae is just about the most precious thing ever ❤

thank god im not the only person who has trouble remembering lil' joan's name.

also if you think turnips are gambling i would hate to see how you react to people using nmt's to find their favorite villager lmao

Aww, what gets to you about Daisy Mae? I think she's adorable.

The turnip game is definitely stressful - agree 100%.

I unfortunately don't have the schedule where I can check both the morning and afternoon prices so it's hard for me to participate and follow trends. Since release, I've only bought turnips on three Sundays. I prefer chilling on my own island selling bugs, fish, fruit, and daily hot items for bells.

The feeling when your own prices are north of 300-400 is wonderful though. Love helping others sell their large turnip hauls!

I like Daisy Mae, but find checking prices / managing turnips to be not very fun and kind of inconvenient. There are times where I turn the game on only to check the prices.

I was never interested in the stalk market, but I hate that there are achievements with it. It's not a small amount too. 4th tier is 1M bells profit. I don't know what the last tier is, but it's too high to my liking. The moment I get the achievement, is the moment I can stop buying turnips

I've never played the Stalk Market in any of the games. I'm not really the risk taking sort, and while the world is my oyster thanks to the forums if I so chose since people here let others visit their towns to sell their turnips, I don't really play with people other than friends. Since I don't really like the risk, I'm less inclined to be bothered enough to actually want to purchase any in the first place. I'll purchase one to let rot so I can catch some ants for the museum, but past that I don't know that I'll ever go through with the gamble. It is tempting though, I could do with millions and millions of in-game bells.

As for Daisy Mae, I prefer Joan but she's fine I guess.

I've never really been bothered by turnips and I rarely wake up on time to buy them anyways. I'm not in the habit of checking turnip prices and I'm starting to phase out buying turnips because I don't want to ruin my 5* rating on my island + no space at home. It's pretty fun when you can sell for a lot, but otherwise, I enjoy fishing and I can't wait for summer for beetles

i prefer joan infinitely!! :< daisy's cute but she's just not the same - and i agree that the drippy nose throws me off! as for the stalk market, think the fault there lies with the players, not the game...

honestly i enjoy the stalk market and have only done it twice so far. it's an easy way to make bells so i can actually afford the prices ppl charge for items.
i love daisy tbh, i think it's cute that joan is her grandma and that she's taking on her tradition. i do miss joan though and hope we get to see her again.

I usually buy turnips every week. I'm part of a group of friends with an ACNH Slack, and one of our channels is dedicated to turnip prices, so I'm very likely to have access to at least a decent price. Even without that, it's pretty easy to find a great price if you know where to look (turnip.exchange, for example).

So I don't really see it as "gambling" as such. It does force one to interact in-game with either friends or strangers, which not everyone may be comfortable with, however.

Mary Sue?!!! lol. I am addicted to the stalk market, and so is my brother who is a first time ac player. Having the option to sell in other islands totally helps feeling less stressed about having a bad pattren. To be honest, i never buy a large amount, certainly not millions and not even close. You could try it with a small investment if you feel curious one day.

I used to go bug catching before the rate was ruined and the stalk market stresses me out a bit, because you don’t know if the prices will increase or decrease. Although I wish there was an event though where you can see Joan, Nat and Chip still.

I was never into turnips during WW, LGTTC or NL, but I've been really getting into them now! The most easy way to make money, I feel like selling things online is cheating a bit, but investing my own money into something and getting a profit, that's nice!

I don't have any feelings about it. I don't think I've ever really tried it in all of my years of playing these games. I just never cared and still don't. I might do it this time for the nook miles achievements people have mentioned but otherwise I do not care.

I play the market with my sons island, just us two. I feel like if we didn’t have the system we have for buying and selling turnips I wouldn’t do it.

I mean, I'm not dependent on the stalk market or anything. It doesn't dictate my enjoyment of the game or determine whether I progress or not. I keep stalk marketing within my small group of friends because I think if you constantly go online to guarantee a 500+ sellback price, it ruins the fun and excitement of the whole concept, there's no risk involved, and to me, that would make it boring.

Currently within our group, we're all having a pretty bad week with each of us 5 having prices projected to be below 200. So we're all carefully checking our prices twice a day, hoping someone might have something at least 150+. To me, that's all part of what makes it fun.

I didn't do it in New Leaf but I started trying it out in this game! I wanted to finish the achievements and get some extra bells. It seems to be way easier now than in New Leaf, what with Turnip Exchange and Animal Crossing Exchange being great tools to use.

I don't really find it fun though. It's interesting to see what my own prices are like, but I'm not big into the real life stock market or gambling either. Like, I'm old enough to legally gamble in my country but I just don't do it. So it's kind of unsurprising that I feel the same way about turnips. The only reason why I started doing it now is because with all the sites out there, there's little risk you'll lose your initial investment.
