Am I the only one who hates the stalk market and doesn't like Mary Sue (or whatever the Joan replacement is called)?

Dude, peacock butterflies were my entire source of income and then they had to go and nerf em 😩
Same here... I am now stuck making like NOTHING in this game... they almost completely ruined the game for me.

I find Daisy Mae adorable, though I could do without the snot! As far as the turnip market goes... I think it's an alright system. I mean, everybody here can make bells much easier through TBT alone if they have multiplayer, but I also enjoy the community aspect about it.

If I go to someone's island to turn 1 million into 6 million I think an "outrageous amount of bells" is justified as a fee. Online multiplayer with 7 players is a complete hassle , especially if tons of people come in and go out. Everyone who hosts deserves their fair share of the winnings.

The only thing I don't like about the stalk market is the patterns, and this also ruins the singleplayer aspect in my eyes. You could just have the bad pattern and have no chance at making a profit. I really don't think that's fair.

Too stressful for me, but I'm still doing it for the achievements and because I need to pay off at least 5 houses.

Daisy Mae is cute though.

honestly i dont mind the design! but it the fact that she was corana

I'm gonna chase it until I've got about 10 mil in the bank, then I'll just do a little every week with whatever my own island prices are for kicks. I don't go hog wild, I've been getting about 1.3 mil/week waiting for good buyouts on the forums that don't have a long/crazy queue.

I'm all for it at this point, because I'm constantly struggling with storage space, so if I can make my money on the stalk market, I don't need to hoard bugs & fish for Flick & CJ (who don't come NEARLY often enough).

Didn't care about it before but I really wanted to pay off my home loan so I've been trying my luck with it. A lot of furniture items are really expensive this time around too and the bug spawn nerf definitely doesn't help lol

I think it's totally fair. It's a risk buying turnips because you don't know if you will turn a profit, and you know that when you buy them. If you were guaranteed a profit every week, I don't see any reason to include it in the game.

I buy about 50k bells worth of turnips each week, so not a ton of investment. Two weeks ago I had a decreasing pattern and took a loss because I couldn't be fussed trying to find an island with decent prices. No biggie. Bells are easy enough to earn. I just have to run through my flowers a few times and I can usually get 2-3 rare butterflies within five minutes. (I don't get the people complaining about the nerf, I still see far too many Queen Alexandra's birdwings or peacock butterflies or raja brook butterflies for supposedly rare bugs. And even paper kites are 1000 bells each so that can add up).

I actually just bought 10 turnips on Sunday just so I can get ants too! I’ve just got them sitting there ready to spoil and I’m waiting for a greedy person to try to steal them. I don’t like the stalk market and never have. For me, it doesn’t feel like I earned the bells, so I keep away from it. My friends go nuts over it. My best friend irl came to my island, didn’t say a word, sold his turnips, dropped 10k and logged off. It was just weird.

I get where you’re coming from and can speak to my experience. I have played AC since 2002 and never got too involved with turnips because it all seemed daunting and too much work. However, I decided to try a turnip exchange on Sunday. I filled my inventory, got on AC exchange, checked host ratings and expectations for tips, and joined a reasonable line. It all went smoothly and the hosts have ratings. The hardest part about it all is just waiting for your turn to go to the host island. I only made like 1.3 mil because I don’t wait in ridiculous lines for super high selling prices but it was worth it. In short, try it out even if just once. Moving forward I’ll probably just be an occasional buyer still lol.

It sucks, but you're not losing 100% of your investment, and on average, you'll always make more than you lose. Decreasing pattern is just a bump in the road.

I couldn't be further from 'completely indifferent' to it - for my mileage it's not even a gamble, I'm guaranteed to turn at least a small bit of profit because I know so many people who play the game anyway, outside of the fact that I can just come on here to see if anyone has high prices and visit them to sell. The only reason I don't participate in it is if I forget to buy turnips or simply can't because I slept beyond 12 on Sunday.

I don't like it but I have poor luck when it comes to the NMTs. I have never been to scorpion island and I never get islands that are good enough to make a makeshift scorpion island. The nerf makes it less worth the time aswell. I only island hop when I want to find a new villager after one of mine moved out.

I enjoy it and think it's a small fun addition to the game. It's optional so I suppose I don't see the problem with it. It is a joke on the adult stock market which isn't gambling as much as teaching investments just like taking out a loan to buy a home. It keeps within the themes of AC but I can understand why people don't like it though

I always know in my heart that I'll just forget to check the prices and end up losing all the money anyways. But I also feel like I make enough money anyways? It doesn't take all that much to pay of all the house payments and bridges and what not. I want to play calmly and not stress, so why add gambling to that?

But Daisy Mae is adorable, I lover her. I just don't buy turnips

in earlier games, i never participated in the turnip market because it never made sense to me lol. but in new horizons, i feel like everything is just much more expensive from house loans to furniture. even moving places, which is a new mechanism, seems expensive to me. i've got to 7 mil without turnips, but then i had to adopt villagers and move houses, and it got too much so i joined the stalk market.

it's an annoying process, but i don't blame people for doing it.

I bought some turnips initially, and after a while just stopped. I don't really find the need to have a ton of bells yet since I frankly don't have much to spend on in NH so far, besides moving buildings.

I really enjoyed catching bugs and fish before so lowered spawn rates kinda sucks :( I spent more than a week trying to catch my first scorpion and haven't seen one since.

It's my best source of income, since I don't like the whole NMT trading nonsense, and no one wants TBT anymore. A (almost) pocket full of turnips I bought for 102 and sold for 501 at someone's island netted me 1.8mill and I was able to pay off my top floor home loan finally.

(and btw, not all of discord is bad if you are diligent, watch how people talk and interact)
