For me it would probably have to be the amazing "The Fault in Our Stars" To be honest I don't think there are any words that describe how this book affected me. Seriously after reading it it was almost all I thought about for a long time :) I just love it so much :) I love reading in general really :) A world you can escape into! So what about you guys?

the fault in our stars is SECOND on my list because i enjoy fantasy slightly more.
while i do love everything john green does, but favorite book series has got to be cirque du freak

I love to read!

I find it almost impossible to choose one favorite. I tend to read a lots of book series.

One of my favorites would be American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Anything he writes is wonderful though. <3

I've been looking for a thread like this. All there ever is are threads about movies. Anyway, I have the deepest love for books. I can't even imagine how I'd be like right now if it wasn't for them.

My favorite book is Looking for Alaska. To be honest, it wasn't that appealing in the beginning. It took me three weeks to get to the middle of the book because I was kind of reading it on and off. But when I got to the other part of the book, gudamn, I finished it overnight! I couldn't stop myself, tears after tears, smile after smile, I was a mix of everything. I can't believe such An amazing book could exist. Never did I think I could read/finish a book in one night (a few hours actually). It's just unbelievable how books can suck you in and take you places and make you feel things; how you can relate to characters. Just wow. That started my love for books. Before, I'd only read romantic novels (such as work by Sarah Dessen), but thanks to John Green, my type/genre expanded. Now I read everything.

It was especially amazing because it was from a guy's point of view. I thought I won't be able to relate because yeah, the main character was a guy. But nope, I was hooked and I understood his feelings clearly. And that stopped me from not wanting to read guy's point of view books in fear of not being able to relate.

My most adored book is... wow, it's difficult to decide on just one.

One of the ones I have read through the most, though, is The Lightning Thief.

Yes, I prefer fiction aimed at younger teens, as opposed to the novels meant for my age group; mainly because the worlds presented in youth fiction tend to be broader, more inventive and far more removed from reality (and I really dislike reality).

I love YA books.. I read a lot of other books. More adult in nature.. But I keep with lots of YA too.
I am a far cry from my teen years too.... >__>

The Percy Jackson series is one of my all time favorites. I've read them all at least 3 times through. ^^

The first to come to mind is Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It's an absolute classic and no doubt still has relevance in the modern day. It perfectly warned us of the future - yet, so far, it looks as if very few have heeded that warning. We are slowly playing further and further into the sort of society Orwell described.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami immediately comes after. It has some intelligent quotes and I love how it is written. I envy Murakami's ability to interweave two seemingly separate stories into one. I love the characters and how it hits home.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Pure perfection. I suppose I understand this because I'm vain. But it's a lovely novel with a strong message. I wish I'd been forced to read this in school - I didn't read it until I was 20. Even so, the novel is so much better than the film.

Finally, Edinburgh by Alexander Chee. I recommend this only to the older audiences on this forum. It's not too filthy (if you want real filth, then PM me!) but admittedly the purple prose is headache-inducing. It's an emotional and awkward novel - but beautiful in it's own way.

The Time Traveler's Wife... it's not a great piece of literature, but it always holds a great place in my heart.

Wow, really hard to choose one, so I'm just gonna fling out my top three: House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski), Wind in the Willows (Kenneth Grahame), The Elegant Universe (Brian Greene)

The fault in our stars is my absolute favourite, I'm actually in the middle of re reading it for a homework task ;)
Though a very close second place goes to the eragon series <3

Twilight. All of them.

The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth, or Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Those two books are my ultimate favorite out of all the ones I've ever read.
