After update: 1 cartridge on different 3DS's / cartridge & digital on 1 3DS: info?

Has anybody tried to play the same cartridge on different consoles after the update? Is the town still in the cartridge or is it tied to the console now?

Also: if you have one 3DS and two copies of the game (physical and digital) is it still possible to play both of them on the same console?

I've read mixed things about this so I need reliable info.

I've put my Welcome Amiibo updated Catridge into another 3DS, and the game will load, but your save file is completely gone until you update that 3DS to the latest Animal Crossing update. It will act as if it's a new game.

I also have a digital copy as well as retail and yes, you can play both of them.

I think someone said if you put the cartridge in a unupdated 3ds it loads up with no save file, but it came back with the town save after updating? Not 100% since I don't have 2 systems to test with

You can use one cartridge on 2 3dses!
I've tried using the cartridge for which i always used my normal 3ds on my brothers one (new 3ds) so that I could scan my amiibo cards. It didn't mess up my town or anything.

And I know for a fact that with other games like tomodachi life each new cartridge also creates a totally new game!

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the info. So, if you perform the update on your second console, can you play your save game on both consoles?

My other DS Doesn't let me on unless I update via eshop
