Afraid of the future?

Just want a game? Don't buy the amiibo. They don't lock content, just expand it. Not ready for the next console? Don't buy it. But don't expect games to hit the Wii U that wouldn't in the first place like Animal Crossing. There's a reason many 3DS games aren't on the Wii U, and it's because nobody own one, as you mentioned, Sugarplum.

But I do agree with Miiverse, it's purely comedy bait.

I just don't know why they announced the NX so soon. I haven't even bought a Wii U yet and I probably won't until Animal Crossing or Zelda comes out on it. Which sucks because that means the Wii U probably only has like 2 years left. It all feels so rushed.

They didn't "announce" it, it was vaguely mentioned in a business conference.

It's debatable to whether or not Amiibo 'don't lock content'.
We've seen it many times before in the past few years where games have content essentially cut out of the finished product to sell later. Amiibo pretty much points to that entirely, especially with something like Smash Bros where not only was it a bit feature that they tried to hype as 'important', it was also available on launch...If you had an Amiibo.

If you ask me, they do lock content rather than expand it. It doesn't really matter how important the content is or whether it's just 'gravy' to the rest of the game.
Mario Kart 8 or Hyrule Warriors you may have a point with since support obviously came later (since they were released before Amiibo), but everything else...Eh..

Wii U also has 9.2 million units sold last time I checked (which was a while ago). It's still 3rd place behind Xbone and PS4 but it's hardly "nobody owns one".

If they can't even install video capture capabilities in the 3ds, I'm not worried. Everything else can connect to the computer for easy video capture, but not the 3ds (or its upgrades).

Until they do this, I'm not going to worry.

You need external hardware to capture video from any of the consoles, though. The only exception is being able to stream directly from PS4/XBONE, but that is limited to the streaming service's export options.

Not to the same degree as a 3DS though where you have to get it sent off to be actually modified. With the other consoles you just stick a thing in the back where the HDMI cable usually goes. If the 3DS has some sort of video output, you would be able to do the same.

Though on the other hand, should they really have video capture in a 3DS by default anyway? They're already ?200 and that would only raise the price more for a feature you might not even want.
To me, that's something where the PS4/Xbone falls short. They have a ton of features that I don't want such as video capture and streaming my footage to Twitch (that nobody will actually watch) and all it does is raise the price of the console.

True, but that wasn't my point. The guy was seemingly annoyed that there was no way to easily capture video from a 3DS, implying it's something that's built into other systems. External hardware or modification is always needed.
