Advice please! Bugs and fishing

So I’m completely new to NH but I’ve been playing NL ever since it came out, I know the ins and outs-ish to catching all the bugs and fish but for some reason I feel super dumb-dumb with the fishing and catching on this new version :c

I know that the best way to get all the expensive bugs and sharks was island tours and doing everything at night on NL but this is the third night I’ve tried to get any kind of new bug/fish and i’ve found nothing :c It’s rained a few days too but I don’t think I’ve found much. Im bummed and clueless. At one point i stumbled across a scorpion but passed out and lost it :’(

If someone could please give some advice on catching the right time/weather to find these slippery buggers it’ll help me alot ;-; Thanks!

Have you tried using bait to catch fish? And the scorpion shows up at night as well.

edit: forgot to mention that most bugs don't spawn when it's raining, so if you've had trouble finding them maybe that's why!

awesome, im gonna check these out when i wake up xd tysm, i didnt know they didnt spawn while it rained. Too bad I picked the nothern island bc its always raining here in the uk ;-;
