The first camper will NEVER leave unless you invite them. Yes, they will be there the next day.

The best advice I can give you is to go into that tent tomorrow with an open mind. Tell yourself that no matter who it is, they are going to be on your island for a little while, so try to find a few things about them that you like. Don't go into that tent tomorrow hoping for a certain villager, it's not going to be fun if you set yourself up for disappointment. Even if it's someone that you are struggling to find something positive about, just do your best!

I got Phil in my campsite, a villager I happen to dislike greatly from NL. you only have to bear with him for a little if you choose. Phil just left my island the other day

Good advice, thank you! 😊 I'll go in with an open mind and try to find the best in the villager that is there.

You really can't do anything about it - you have to invite them anyway.
If it makes you feel any better, they can always move out later.
I got Zell - he's alright but I'm actually not too crazy about the Smug personality in general.

Ugh, I had Quillson as a starter villager in NL. He. would. not. move. There was so much hate going towards his direction lol

Ugh...that so awful. I don't think I have ever had a villager in any of my town as ugly as him. It sad that they made him that ugly. Come to think of it I never had ugly villagers in any AC game.

Ugliest I ever had was probably Puddles and Graham in New Horizon and they aren't really ugly either.

I wonder if Quillson is anyone dreamy?

I wanted Zell the most out of all the Smug.

I saw somewhere that someone said they liked Quillson, so maybe?

I do really wonder what some of the designers/artists were thinking when they made some of the "ugly" villagers though. Was it on purpose? Was it a specific request? Was it part of some sort of theme?

What if and I'm not joking...they were having a bad day? That would be hilarious if that was true. I mean Nintendo could literally make every villagers a "dreamie" if they wanted to but it would make selling Amiibo card worthless so that why a lot of villagers were sacrafice for the like of Judy, Marshal, etc....

I mean considering most animals are good looking (from the naked eyes of us humans) in real life so it not hard. Make a normal looking real life deer and you get Beau. I think Nintendo goes out of their way to make certain villagers ugly.

I ended up getting Keaton, and I really came to like him. It also helps that the other villagers tend to whistle happily after talking to him. The only thing is, after I went Nook Island hopping I ran into Julian and Marshal so I invited both into my town and now I have three smug...lol.

I got Chops as my camper.

Ugh.

Luckily he was the first one who wanted to leave so I only had to deal with him for like a week.

Like others have said, hope you get good luck but go into it with an open mind. Whoever it is, you're stuck with them until they move out naturally or you amiibo them out. My first smug was Huck, who I was not and still not am a fan of. But he's consistently given me the best DIY recipes out of all the ones the villagers can give, so I tolerate him. Even then, if he asked to move, I'd gladly pack his bags for him.

I got Quilson and he basically refuses to leave. Good luck

Just hope for the best honestly! There were only 3 smugs I did NOT want. Ended up with Zell, he was not one of those 3 so I was very happy. I think it was easier for me to go in with the mindset of "there's only 3 smugs I don't like" rather than "I really want Raymond" to avoid disappointment.

Zell is one of my favorites on the island currently! I love the smug personality, he looks cool, and sings a lot!

The 3 smugs I don't like are Chops, Rodney, and Lucha. I had Quillson in NL early on and liked him
