I am American and I see advent calendars everywhere. You're just not looking in the right places.

well where i live, they don't stock them. idk i need to check in the christmas aisles at wal-mart.

I would buy my daughter the play mobile ones. You get a toy everyday. They're really cute. I've bought my son Lego ones in the past. One had christmas Legos and another was Starwars.

I made one for my daughter and used it once. She would open a little drawer and there would be a piece of candy or small toy. This one was fun because I got to choose and buy the prize.

i saw one of those in amazingphil's video but didnt know what it was called until now. id love to get my hands on a chocolate one, but knowing myself, ill either completely forget to open the flaps every day or just eat all the chocolate in one go

Not yet but I told my mom to buy one for when I get home for Christmas, then I'll just eat two chocolates a day to catch up :'3

I get them every year! My favourite are the Lindt (a chocolate company, not sure if they are outside of Canada or not...) calendars because you get tons of really good quality chocolate. ^_^

Yes, I sure do!
My parents think I'm too old for one (I'm 21) but screw it. They remind me of my childhood during Christmas and I still very much enjoy them! ^_^

They sell them in Canada. I haven't boughten one in about 5 years because I end up eating all of them before Christmas

Whooaa that looks supper fun ahahaha! I would probably be fat by the end of the month though, I don't usually buy calenders just get them for free every year I would like to try one of those just to eat them all <3

This reminds me of a funny story about advent calendars. Back in the 3rd grade, there was a nice German kid in my grade that brought in a bunch of German Christmas stuff and one of them was an advent calendar. We had a discussion about it in class. Some kids thought he was weird, but I didn't. I thought it was interesting. I haven't used an advent calendar though.

I loooooved those as a kid, haven't had one in forever though. Just bought like 6 for all the nieces and nephews today actually lol

I wish I had one this year but I didn't see them at Walmart when I went, when I was littler we'd always get the crumby chocolate kind, which I really like crumby chocolate... but I did see a train advent calendar that had a tiny train in each day so you would have 25 trains by the end of it, it looked pretty cool!

i grew up on these every year because my grandparents are german and they'd always get us these/ (and kinder eggs for easter) haha. and i loved them. they were my childhood. gah. i wish i had one this year.. i'm almost 22 now but my gosh id kill to be able to do this with my grandparents again.

I have one every year! I mean I probably should grow up soon but the chocolate has a christmas taste to it. I don't know why!

If it was Animal Crossing themed, I'll get one. But they only sell generic ones around me. So no. TT"

I haven't got one this year but I usually get a Hello Kitty one.
I didn't even know you could get one without chocolate?

I have one but I wasn't too fussed as to whether I got one or not. It's just a little piece of chocolate you get each day so it doesn't bother me, although I guess it's just a fun tradition.

Surprised though that not a lot of people in the US have them, though. ;v; I just assumed everyone did.
