I dropped my 3ds in water.
I was making food in the kitchen and had my ds on the counter. There was a pot full of water in the sink and I accidentally knocked my ds into the sink and of course it fell in the pot. I grabbed it right away and it didn't fully submerge. It was still on when I picked it up but the top screen was dim, almost black. I've turned it off, taken it apart, dried everything, and it is in rice right now. I'm going to wait till the morning to try and turn it back on, but I'm terrified that my game is damaged. Of course I'll be upset if the ds doesn't work, but I can always buy a new one, and I'll never get back my progress if the game is ruined. This is actually the worst thing that's happened to me. I need prayers right now guys :(

Ok, don't lose any of the screws. Give it time; in those small cracks, water will still linger. After 3-4 days in DRY heat- if it's a humid day, move it out of site... I would use a hairdryer (setting on Low) & take my time giving it a once over.

If New Leaf is not the digital version, remove the cartridge ASAP!

Good luck!

you posted this at 11:11 don't worry!!!
and on top of that rice does miracles
i like rice

sorry trying to bring in some humor good luck!!

Lots of good advice here - be patient, let it completely dry for a few days if you have to -- I think you have a good chance of reviving it!

And believe me, if I did that I would have cried too.

I would try to wait longer if you can, since turning it on when there could be water still inside could make things worse. And you might want to research the hairdryer a little more, I also heard it can just blow the water further into the system...I'm not sure though.
Good luck! I dropped my old GBA in the toilet back in the day, so I know how you feel.

Thanks everyone. It's so hard to be patient, but I will give it atleast 3 days before I try turning it on again. I did take out the game cartidge right away and it's in the rice too so hopefully it will be okay. Again, thank you all for the advice. I'll let you know what happens

Exactly! I'm mostly upset that I won't be able to play for awhile. Especially if it ends up not working, then I have to wait so long before I can save up and buy a new one. Ugh. This is so horrible. thank you bellbringergreen! I knew you guys would understand and make me feel a bit better. My mom was basically like whatever effy you need a break from that game anyway. How sweet haha.

My husband would move heaven and earth to get me a new one if I ruined mine like that. This game is one of the few things that keeps me out of a full on depression (my dog being the other).

I'll pray that it works out for you.

Well I'm glad that you have someone in your life that cares about you so much. Thank you!

Do you have rice? Leave it in a bag of rice! Some people I know did it with their phones and it worked again. Worth a shot.

I sincerely hope that everything turns out alright.

Actually, the exact same thing happened to me last week and I was freaking out. (It was caught in a rainstorm for like 10-15 minutes)

I hope that everything turns out alright. But, there's always the option to send it out to repair as a last resort. (I used it as my first :P)

I don't have much experience with fixing consoles, so all I could do was hope that Nintendo could fix the console. I actually just got it back today, and everything was working perfectly.

The only downside for sending it in for repair is that its pretty costly and it does take a while. (Mine didn't take that long though as the repair center was the next town over)

It's hard, but I truly believe everything will be alright (just a bit of animal crossing withdrawal) :)

I would seriously cry and get very frustrated if mine died and I lost all my progress. I somehow feel your pain and worry even though it hasn't happened (yet if ever). I even cried while reading the first post. Good luck to you and I hope it works again! That'd be awful!

I'm sorry to hear of this news, though, the suggestions being offered to you all sound very plausible. I hope in the end that you're able to turn it back on without any troubles!!
