So, I read somewhere that you can actually move lock your town with a fairly simple method! I didn't believe that this existed and I haven't seen it elsewhere, so I'm not quite sure as to how accurate it is.

Move Lock Method:

1) Find a villager contemplating about moving.
2) Prevent Villager from moving.
3) Don't load up the game until date needed(1 week, month, year etc.)

*Note* Method apparently only works until 6 AM on the day you stopped someone from moving, so after 6 AM the moving cycle will begin again.

Theoretically, none of your precious villagers should have moved. I'm not 100% if this works, the source is fairly reputable(respected member of the forum from the past).

If any of you are TT cycling, could you perhaps see if this method works?

Extra Note: Weeds will still grow normally.

I don't TT or cycle, but I often take breaks from the game and I do exactly what you posted. I've never lost any of my villagers, so that method seems to work very well.

It's always worked for me. The only time I've lost villagers is when I've taken a break between villagers asking to move.

It worked for me, then again my villagers rarely move out after hiatuses for some reason.

[sub]i cycle a lot and i use this method when i accidentally TT too far in the past. it works fine, and it is very useful![/sub]

I didn't know this was a thing! I'll definitely use it when I get lazy, and when I actually get some good villagers. :)

This method is really helpful. I may try it when I become too busy at times. It also helps to use Game Notes and write down the last day you played or look at the Activity Log.

Kind of surprised there are still quite a few people that don't know this. It's been fairly common knowledge for a few years lol

Yep, it works. If someone pings to move and you stop them, you can take a break however long is needed, and no one will move in the interim.

Maintaining five towns is exhausting, and this comes in very handy for me personally.

Like everyone else, I can confirm this works. Super useful method that prevents a lot of stress when you want to take a break!
